@@DiamondLifer ...No dude, I mean Petrucci, his #1 influence growing up as he said in an interview.
@DiamondLifer5 жыл бұрын
Sanno Ryujin thanks for the story dude but Petrucci took influence from Gilbert. This little lick Jason did has more of a Gilbert vibe. I know from conversations that Jason was also influenced by Gilbert, Becker and many others.
@Thiago_Alves_Souza5 жыл бұрын
DiamondLifer have you ever listened to Petrucci's solo album? It's replete with arpeggios, triplets and alternated arpeggios like this one. I don't deny this has some similarities but Jason has said Petrucci and Alex Laiho are his number one influences.
@corbinm52375 жыл бұрын
DiamondLifer I get your thought process,but if we go with that mindset then we have to look at John Petrucci’s influences then to their influences and to their influences’ influences and on and on and on. But if Jason Richardson didn’t listen to whoever that person is,it doesn’t matter. And if it happens to sound like that person then it’s coincidence rather than influence.

Yeah because I've tried this by myself, moving wrist at that high speed is kind pointless and so many chances to lose control and chance to hit other notes where at high speed if you move you elbow you are almost doing up pick and down pick but with minimum hand wrist movements so that will eliminate the chances of hitting other strings.

Great points dude👍👍 How long did it take you to fully develop your right hand, where you felt totally comfortable with improvisation🤔 Months or years.
@malamute8257 Жыл бұрын
I wanted to share some words of advice because I took away some misinformation from this video, and just corrected myself. For one, your picking hand does not need to be nearly as flat as his. There are multiple ways to accomplish the same goal. The monkey fist thing is totally a matter of preference. I use a taller shape that looks more like the Troy Grady ergonomic mouse idea. This won't hinder your speed. Secondly, he incorrectly says that he is picking all from the wrist when Jason's style very prominently uses elbow motion. If you try to use all wrist, your angle of approach is going to change instead of thinking of your hand like a tool on the end of your arm that you can move by extending and not just pivoting.

It's not so much the delay, it actually just is pretty sloppy in general. Good to know Jason is actually human after all! Not knocking him at all, he's one of the most technically proficient guitarists on the planet and normally never misses a note, i'm a huge fan. He does miss alot of notes when he speeds it up here though and the timing gets a bit wonky too, if you slow the audio down a bit its extremely noticeable. Regardless he's one of the few people on the planet who could even attempt something like this at these speeds so s'all good.
