Thanks Jason. Your “dialling-in” series is a mini-masterclass in the illustrative and practical use (and other possibilities) of the Line 6 Helix.

Awesome videos Jason! I just bought a Line6 Helix (after being a tube amp guy for many years) to use for live playing and recording. I've been learning so much from watching your videos. Fantastic stuff!

Just downloaded this customtone. It's totally awesome! Got 6 or 7 different "amps" I use. All of them are your customtones! *Hats off to you, good sir* 👊😎🤙

Great video as always jason. The Litigator is one of my favourite amps in the Helix, next to the Placater the Divided Duo and the Matchless :)

Great tutorial for dialing in good tone on the Helix. Thanks for sharing Jason!

Thanks, Jason! What's nice is that you show how to get great tone without having to put much up on the Helix. That Litigator is a great amp model. For me, it's a "foundational tone."

Thank you Jason! This is one of the tones I'd hoped you would cover. I actually came close to your setting for the OD on my own ( I am learning how to use the Helix thanks to you) and use it for my lead with a bit of boost. Your efforts are always appreciated.

Hi Jason,I really like this one. Did adjust a bit to my needs and will use it in the future as my main patch. Love the idea of just having 1 amp that goes from clean to dirt. Like the template. Tks.

That is wonderful Mac :-) So glad you like the patch, and yes please tweak it to your taste and system. Would love to hear how it works out for you once you have some time with it!

Another awesome video! Thank you. I think this now and then watch your videos, but this one, especially adjusting the Minotaur, makes me want to tell you a tip you don't seem to use: Hit the spacebar to toggle a selected block on or off. Much easier than grabbing the mouse every time. Hope this is news to you! :)
@JasonSadites6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much and my pleasure fisch :-) Thanks for reminding me about the space bar thing, I did know that but haven't created the habit of using it...YET!! But I am going to try and remember to do that :-) Thanks so much for the reminder!

Im a huge fan of the minotour in the helix. My go-to settings are gain 1, tone 4-7 (to taste) and volume to 8. Every amp I use it on is complimented by that pedal. It makes the cleans sparkle the crunch more crunchy, and the high gain amps sing.
@JasonSadites6 жыл бұрын
So true Steve....it is a really great pedal :-)

I like the Litigator with a Strat single coil neck and it gets a really good John Mayer "Slow dancing in a burning room" tone for me for an example. I also need to explore different amps in the Helix some more. I really like the Revv Purple for higher gain stuff and I used to use the Badonk before that.

Surprisingly, the doom amp is really cool. I always passed it by, thinking it was some scooped trashy thing but it's really decent.

I don't know how long you prepare your videos before recording, but all of what you release sounds relaxed, spontaneous and very accurate at the same time. And it looks like you're having fun, which is quite contagious. ;) Brilliant. I'm impressed, as usual. 👍

Thank you so very much for the kind words and truly glad you enjoy the videos :-) I really don't rehearse much of anything for the videos, but rather just try and do them off the cuff as much as possible...thanks again for tuning in!

What I really like about watching your tone videos, is how you show how to get a good tone using the built in cabs. I’ve always just use IRs because I had them, but you show you don’t always need to do that. The stock cabs sound great, you just need to know how to tweak them!
@JasonSadites6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul! Yeah I have really never bothered with much in the way of IRs since I really get everything I need out of the stock cabs. Glad you enjoy the videos :-) Thanks for watching!

Increase the Bias for more saturation! This amp model is very flexible and highly reactive to each parameter... I like different cabs especially a Dual Cab Cali IV. Try them all!

Master Jason, one question. What is the reason to place two (2) mono gain blocks on path A and B? sometimes, it confuses me. I do not know if I have to use them in real live performance or studio recording. What is the main purpose on that? Thank you in advance.
@azguitar626 жыл бұрын
If you have the time, you should do a video on the best way to use IEM's and Avioms with Helix. I bet there are many like me who create patches using FRFR's but play on silent stages.
@JasonSadites6 жыл бұрын
Hi AZ, thanks for the suggestion. I really don't dial my patches in any different whether I am playing through FRFR or IEMs or anything else. I really try and have my patches work across all those platforms, at least for my tastes.

Not sure if you've mentioned this in previous vids or not but how are you connecting the Helix to you DAW? XLRs? 1/4"? Using the Helix as a USB interface? I use a Focusrite Saffire 56 going in using XLRs. Wondering what your thoughts are on the various ways to connect the Helix. More so from the sound perspective... as using the Helix as an interface does give certain routing capabilities that are nice. I have found I like going via XLRs for sound as I can find the USB 100% digital to feel a bit more stiff to me.
@JasonSadites6 жыл бұрын
Hey Longridge! I have used it both ways, by connecting it via XLR or 1/4" or by also going via USB as an interface. Both ways work wonderfully for me. For almost all my videos it is Helix via USB, though.

Not sure if you were aware but when you turn up the hum and or ripple to 10 you will hear audible 60 hz in one case and probably 100 Hz very pronounced when not playing......told Line 6 about it....they seemed to know....(not that you would want to turn them that high though)
