I instantly thought of that solo when I saw Poly Sustain in the title. That Amp has some serious 2112 vibes going in your demos

Thanks for giving us a better understanding of this one. I already knew I’d love this effect but you’ve shown several new ideas....great as ever.

Excellent video. Thank you Jason. I'm downsizing from a Helix floor to a HX Stomp XL and one of my presets on the Helix uses pitch synth blocks across five snapshots, which I won't be able to do with the Stomp XL. So, I should be able to do what I need using the Poly Sustain on one snapshot!

This is also cool for emulating some background keyboard patches. We have one song, where I need to fade in a keyboard patch during a solo over 8 bars. This is just perfect, especially combined with a slow fade in one the volume pedal.

Jason this sounds close to Freqout pedal. Do you think you could create a patch. Maybe momentary switch. Love to see if that effect could do that :)

Yes Jason, you've captured it - the perfect effect for the final note of the Rush "Limelight" guitar solo. He routes that through a different H&K amp during a live show. Seems to be quite believable the way you set it up.

Love it Jason...you've given me some scintilating ideas!!

Actually if you listen carefully to Limelight, that note keeps going throughout the whole rest of the song. During the last chorus and ending, that note is still there, vibrating away in the background. It's hard to hear, but it's there. Great video Jason! Can't wait to try 3.0!

I think a great block addition in later firmware would be a value sequencer, i.e you have a sequence of values that can be read by other blocks. In this case it could run the interval changes instead of relying on pedal switching. The value store could also run a modulation effect like LFO that could also feed parameter changes.

Maybe now with this effect Jason or others can create that Neal Schon (solo album stuff) patch / tone I've been dying for ?? ;) hehe great stuff Jason. You rock. Loved that noodling around the fretboard. So happy when Rush / Alex Lifeson (my original guitar hero) makes their way into more convo. Long live Rush music RIP Neil ;(

Hey, great and inspiring video, thanks Jason. I have waited for this block ever since I got the Helix. (Not for single notes but for chords, especially for explaining chord/melody relations to my students.) My Zoom G3n has a cool sustain effect (under reverbs for those interested..) and I kept that pedal only for that reason until now. So as Helix now has it, I thought I could sell the zoom. But at my first attempts I couldn't get decent sounding chords. It seemed like some digital artefacts took over the natural sounding initial chord. Have you tried this block that way (with clean sounding chords)? Like to hear if you got any suggestions, thanks.

Cheers Jason, great video. Endless possibilities with this one... I’m gonna try putting a pitch Whammy after it, then into some reverb/delay for some interesting drone stuff, hmmmm 🤔 Peace ✌️

Holy tinnitus trigger, batman. It would be great if it could be dialed in like the freqout so you can just leave it on and let it sustain notes automatically after a certain time threshold has been met.

I've been looking for a way to simulate the feedback at the beginning of Hendrix's Foxy Lady (without diming a 100 watt amp). In particular, I'd love to achieve the higher harmonic feedback that blooms in (interval +3 with a slow attack maybe). This might just do the trick. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for the great walk through of how to dial this in.

Jason - been having a discussion with a friend about the output control. If you set that to anything non-unity, you will get either a volume drop or a volume boost when you switch off the effect (depending on how you set the output level.) Have you got any insights on what the intended use of this control is? The way it's designed is pretty useless IMO. I would just leave it at 0.
@freddymatthewsmusic3 жыл бұрын
I wonder if it has to do with sending out voltage to synthesizer components? Just a guess (?) For example you may want to boost a signal to a eurorack for example (?) that is on my homework list to look at some of that stuff and not sure how the helix / effects pedal would tie into that - - -
@wolfgangbeutler33264 жыл бұрын
There are heavy restrictions in the HX Stomp when using Poly Sustain - needs to be addressed.
@xsonicassassinx4 жыл бұрын
i don't think one can "address" the fact that the software needs more than the hardware is capable of. that's the trade-off

4TH POST? lol... love the poly sustain 🙂 got 2 in my new ambient preset! I like to use it as ambient drones, or use it like a sustainer for solo's... need a note or notes to ring longer and don't have a sustainiac, just use the poly sustain etc. I also turned the new shuffling looper into a poly sustain wanna-be too 😃 lol. I have snapshot 1 set for normal shuffling looper for some trippy stuff, and snapshot 2 changes the parameters of the shuffling looper and turns it into an additional poly sustain copy!

Great musical feature and playing as usual! What would make it even better is if you could dial in feedback with the sustain, with it's own attack time...Or have the feedback as a separate effects block...that would really make my day!
@alexensing15414 жыл бұрын
For single note feedback, try putting the simple pitch block at the very front of the chain set at an octave up with the mix control as an expression pedal. It won't sustain forever, but it takes very little dsp which is nice
