Eine gute Zusammenstellung praktischer Knoten/Steke. Angenehm zu verfolgen, trotz der Hintergrundmusik(😄), und vor allem fehlerfrei in der Beurteilung der einzelnen Knoten. Danke dafür! A good compilation of practical knots/hitches. Pleasant to follow, despite the background music(😄), and above all error-free in the judgement of the individual knots. Thanks for that!

Wow, very nice. Lots of hitch knots, thanks for the overview of options. Two points - The Buntline is tied with the Clove, as you describe, but here you tie a fig-8. Second, the Blake's working end must pass between the bridge & standing part then fed up thru the wraps on the back side. You tie the Buntline & Blake's correctly in your individual feature videos for these knots. You may wish to make an edit comment along with links to your feature videos in the comment area. Appreciate your work - knots are tools.

I'm bad at remembering all the different knots when I try to learn too many. I've started mastering 1 new knot every month though. :)

Buntline hitch is one of my favourites and totally underrated. More secure than two half hitches and possible to tie as slipped version for easy release.

The best thing to do with a cow hitch is attach a lanyard, keychain, etc to a belt loop or other part of your person. It's sooooooo quick and easy, just makes sense for EDC purposes.

Probably need to take another wack at the Buntline... Might I suggest taking a look at some of Brion Toss's[1] works... his books 'Knots' and the 'Complete Riggers Apprentice' would be a good start. Don't worry about their nautical theme; everything covered is good down to earth 'real world' practical. [1] Sadly, Brion Toss recently passed away...
@nigel77193 жыл бұрын
Yep. He stuck the running end thru the wrong loop on the final step, thus creating a figure 8 loop around the standing part.

@@nigel7719 Yes and that resulted in a "packer's knot"
@3a41i22 жыл бұрын
@@stephanddd It’s not quite a Packer’s Knot which has the standing part passing through one loop of the figure of eight. This one looks like a “better” knot and very easy to tie. I have no idea what it is and Jason doesn’t seem to send replies. Any help or suggestions for finding a name would be most welcome

Trucker hitch - if you make a full turn around the loop with the running end, then the second hand is not needed, everything can be tied with one hand))
@biranit5010 ай бұрын
the trucker hitch can be improved by passing the end of the line through the loop twice for self locking , saving the pinching and 2 half hitches

The taut-line (aka riggers knot, midshipman’s knot) can also be tied when there is a load on the line. As in, when the line is taut. Imagine a line being tossed to you after falling overboard from a ship. While holding the rope, you can still easily tie a taut-line hitch around yourself. Try doing that with a bowline😂
@stephencindrich6787 Жыл бұрын
Not a problem.
@tanguerochas Жыл бұрын
Bowline can easily be tied one-handed as well. As a loop knot, the midshipman's hitch can close.
@Brocuzgodlocdunfamdogson Жыл бұрын
@@tanguerochas no one said it couldn’t. No one even mentioned tying them one handed, that’s not the issue. I’d love to see you hang 80 kilos from a rope then tie a bowline above the weight. Better yet, hang yourself from a rope then try wrapping it around yourself and tying a bowline. Good luck making the loop and feeding the tail through it (twice) while holding up 80 kilos with one arm. Making a loop around yourself with a taut line hitch is easy, even if you’re on the line.
@3a41i22 жыл бұрын
Love your videos, but the Buntline hitch in this collection, although it seems an attractive knot, is not a classical buntline hitch (as shown in your specific video) what is it?
@nigel77193 жыл бұрын
So what is the knot shown in the pixel on the YT search page. Or did I miss something?
@canoetipper0194 жыл бұрын
timber hitch aka twitch hitch...because (at least around here) you 'twitch' out your logs...or you may be hauling out a twitch off logs. At least that's what I remember from my younger years. (does that make me old?) lol Cheers from NB

That’s a slippery overhand knot at 1:10, not a slippery half hitch. Odd since your How to tie a slippery half hitch in 60 seconds video has it right.

You can use the gear icon to slow the speed but this video is an overview of the knots and not intended for learning. I have a separate video for each of the knots shown here that shows clearly how to tie the knot.
@dariocarafa37883 жыл бұрын
You did a real injustice to the taught line hitch. you didn't dress it and you didn't show what it's actually capable of. if I didn't know what that knot was I wouldn't think it's as impressive as it is.
@jesseharkin99902 жыл бұрын
you tied the buntline hitch incorrectly! in the video you tie a figure-eight instead of a clove hitch around the standing part
