Btw, I am finishing Jason's Metal Apprentice course, it is a fantastic way to get a foundation and a structured, metal practice routine of cords and riffs in time. The progressions and riffs get incrementally and reasonably harder, are 100% metal, and are fun to play. There is also some bonus material that can be helpful. Only issue is, I am not sure when work will allow me to get to the higher level course!

Doom riffs are probably my favorite riffs! I always love how evil and epic they sound!
@jasonstallworth2 ай бұрын
Yeah dude, they're not usually fast or overly technical but great for songwriting!

Just came back to finish watching this. Love the riff. Having listened through your album quite a few times, these videos are great to help learn what you've played, but the real value is all the advice and insight you are sharing about how you go about the process. I'm slowly starting to come up with some riffs that I'm happy enough to record and all these extra tips are awesome. Looking forward to your upcoming lead/melody course 🤘🤘

I love playing doom metal. It's slow enough to improve overall playing and melodic enough that it fits the darkness within.

Great video - great song riffs - I love metal but the metal has to have some substance, some melody, dark melody and be intertwined with power chords and odd chords that hit your soul - thx!

I've always been a fan of old rock and heavy metal, recently my wife gave me a guitar for my birthday and I'm starting to learn the basics, do you think a beginner would be able to learn the riffs you offer to the members of the channel?
@iduncanw2 ай бұрын
Welcome to the wonderful world of guitar and a belated happy birthday. Jason has a wide variety of content at different difficulty levels. Even if something seems to difficult to play now, but you like the sound of it, just start slow and aim to increase speed over time. You can also just skip some notes to begin with. Jason is all about encouraging our individual take on guitar. Even if your just playing a few power chords, you're still playing. Play little, but often when just starting out. If you start to get frustrated, maybe try a few more times, then come back to that tomorrow. Importantly - try to finish with something that makes you feel good - could just be hammering out one or two dirty power chords. This should help with overall motivation 🤘🤘
