Coin ring scrap project with with Skyler Jenkins!

I got a visit from a good friend! Skyler Jenkins swings by the shop and we alloy some of his coin silver scrap to sterling, pour a bar, pattern it and cut some ring blanks for him. Trying for a training video here but more of a "fly on the wall" for you to watch. Lots of little gold nuggets for you to listen to as well.
(One tip on removing borax slag on the sterling bar that was cast. You can use a pickle pot. I hadn't set mine up and was rushing a little bit so I had Skyler break it off with a brass hammer).

Wow. I thought I was the only one who had a therapeutic/visceral relationship with making these. My "gateway" drug was the sound the coin makes when quenching. Once I heard that sound I was hooked. Now I have a full shop and have sacrificed our heavy/folding kitchen table into a mobile shop for craft fairs and festivals. I just bolt the ring sizer and 1 ton press to the table with a extra 2 x 6 under for strength.
