Is there a way to count the number of *WORDS* in a String instead of letters?

we have to get the ASCII code of empty space and tell if u encounter a char code after every empty space (other than the Ascii code of empty space) then start to count . but is this feasible or not i dunno. Microsoft word knows the answer.
