I don’t know why we divided the languages to religions. Punjabi to Sikhs, Hindi to Hindus and Urdu to Muslims. We should learn and respect all languages. I wish I could learn all languages of India.

Among most famous Urdu poets Iqbal, Faiz, Sahir, Qateel, Muneer Niazi were Punjabi, Ahmad Faraz was a Pathan who spoke Pashtu and Hindko (a distant Punjabi in my opinion) Shiv Kumar Batalvi was a Hindu and most famous of Punjabi poets. Bulhay Shah Baba Farid were Muslims and Punjabi poets….. list is too huge.

Sorry to say but it wasn't like that actually that was just a script because Persian script was popular here, in Punjab if you'll read history before the invasion of the British in Punjab at time of maharajah ranjit singh even before that there was no Urdu and Hindi was is Punjab, but was another script was in Punjab that was mainly used by local business people called Lnde (ਲੰਡੇ ).

I love Urdu my father knew urdu However urdu was prevalent since we never had a formal education system pre independent.And Urdu was language of then rulers. जावेद जी मै उर्दु जुबान के वारे मे एक बात और ऐड कर दू के पंजाब मे फलेरा गांव जिला जलंधर मे पैदा हुए हिन्दुस्तान के मशहूर ज्योतिषाचार्य रूप चंद जोशी जी जिन्हो ने मशहूर ज्योतिष पर लाल किताब 1100 पेज की उरदू मे लिखी तथा 7 कितावे और भी ज्योतिष शास्त्र पर लिखी जो सभी उर्दू मे लिखी थी और पंजाब के कई विद्वान लोगो को उन्होने फ्री मे वाटी थी, कहने का मतलब मेरे दादा जी लैटर/पोस्ट कार्ड भी उर्दू मे ही लिखते थे अपने रिश्तेदारो को।
