@@Dreams_Fog Because usually there are defence mechanisms in place for tanks to survive these anti tank weapons however NLAWs have been chewing up Russian heavy armour. Cages built on tanks are usually made to prevent damage to the main body and jamming devices can be used. Smoke screens may also work against non-guided missiles before the rocket has been fired. Much shorter range with worse guidance. NLAW is good, but it's more of a light anti-tank weapon.
@jonunwin27802 жыл бұрын
@@PerryGriggs that's interesting as the hit rate is actually exceeding the javelin and it accounts (currently) for the vast majority of tank kills. That was confirmed by both the president of Ukraine and their top general a week and half ago. The UK supplied over 10,000 NLAWS to Ukraine by the end of March. The guidance system is extremely sophisticated with multiple sensors. It lacks the range of a javelin that's for sure but it's extremely effective as Ukraine has shown.
@PerryGriggs2 жыл бұрын
@@jonunwin2780 That's actually not true. We have no reliable statistics on what weapon accounted for what % of russian armor destroyed. The NLAW is very capable, but It's got limited guidance. The NLAW uses a very interesting guidance system where there's no "traditional" guidance. It calculates the speed and direction of the target and basically "programs" the missile to go where the target is predicted based on those variables. The main issue with that is that the NLAW has no active guidance after launch, so if the target slows down, turns, or generally does something unexpected, the probability of a hit goes down dramatically. It's an excellent weapon, but it's more like a high tech AT4. The Javelin is more of a heavy anti-tank system, and that includes far superior guidance systems and optics. Not to mention the massive range difference, as there's been confirmed Javelin kills greater than 4k meters. That's why they work together in a sort of anti-tank ecosystem. NLAW for extremely close tanks, but most importantly for IFVs and AFVs and the Javelin for your heavy AT needs.
@jonunwin27802 жыл бұрын
@@PerryGriggs I can't dispute that the javelin takes out the higher level tanks but to day the guidance system isn't accurate is false. The guidance system does office you're direct but it also tracks and stores the image of the vehicle in its memory and searches for it. It also has magnetic sensors and knows the height of the tank regardless if the enemy fits those ridiculous cages. The yield is lower than the javelin as it's the range. Also note, what I said was accurate.. We know that 10,000 NLAWS were given to Ukraine and at that same time period hundreds of javelins were given. Non by the USA until April. That is confirmed by the Ukrainian President. So the majority of kills from the start of the war to April were by the NLAW. Now that the USA is finally making good on its promise of lethal said to Ukraine we should see an even better result. I just hope it's not too late. If you wish to dispute that then I will have to ask you to raise it with the Ukrainian President and General as that's come from their own mouths about a week and half ago.
