Apparently the Javelin sucks so much because Gaijin followed the flight manual to a tee. The reason the manual was so restrictive with speed and G loads was because a Javelin crashed once at low altitude and they couldn't figure out why, so they put blanket restrictions on it. Either way, it isn't performing near how it should and needs to be corrected to it's historical performance ASAP.

CommandPower 1 they have modelled this after the manual which was made for the mk.1 javelin that had some structural problems, limiting its safe top speed. This manual was not updated for the later variants (at least that’s what I have heard). The whole thing with the crazy roll-rate and shitty turning capability is just ignorance to the delta wing concept

Deric Carmickle holy shit stop complaining. People were complaining about how op missiles would be, so they had to balance them out with the warnings. I get complaints about the javelin but the missiles are just fine, unless you want them to ruin any sort of gameplay because you get missile sniped without any chance to evade them

@@daviddominique6817 You shouldn't really need the lock on warning. If you don't have the situational awareness to avoid them without it then you propably deserved the hit. These missiles seem to be almost useless anyway so I would say removing the warning would be a positive effect on the balance. With the warning you can just press S (or whatever to full up on the elevator) to automatically trash the missile with ease.

"Someone locked you" And you go into evasion whether or not they actually launched. You might get lucky or you might get compliant.

Realistically... It has less wing loading than a BF 109... meaning that it can generate a bigger magnitude of acceleration in the form of G's perpendicular wing surface.... 1. The Javelin also has an all moving tail plane (is not shown in War Thunder) which generates a greater down force than conventional tail planes... This gives more controls at high speeds and at speeds above its stall speed, it helps turning by creating a larger angle of attack... 2. The Javelin in real life could break the sound barrier... the 1140km/h airspeed limit is the speed limit that the javelin could achieve with 100% throttle in a straight line and at a certain altitude compared to Gaijin's rip at 1000. It really pisses me off that Gaijin uses historical aircraft and completely get the flight models WAY OFF what they are supposed to be... PS.................. The Hawker Hunter has a lower wing loading than the MiG 17, MiG 19 and F 100 yet it turns like a bloody cargo ship in comparison..... Also the Hawker Hunter have similar wing loading as than the MiG 15's and the F86's yet the turn rate is no where near similar

They really need to rethink the BR system and how you get matched, because getting paired up against mig 19's when you're in an f86-a5 is so god damn frustrating. @WALTERBROADDUS Yup, though thats a massive leap over the current "supersonics", it also applies equally to Japan and Italy as all three went direct to 104 from the 86. The 104 is pretty much unavoidable as W.Germany, Italy and Japan never operated a MACH 1 fighter. So once added to retain parity in other nations the Lightning, Mirage III and MiG-21 are also inevitable... they opened Pandora's box with T6 jets, they now have to go at least as far as MiG-21/Lightning/Mirage III and F-104A/C/G/J... Maybe F-104S if semi-active radar missiles become available but then the F-4 would also be needed since otherwise only Italy would have this capability... but then Russia would need the MiG-23 to counter the F-4... Difficult to justify trying to go any further than this though.

this plane seems to be in the same kinda situation as the Banshee(F2H) currently *decent roll *awful turn despite how they should theoretically have good turn rate(large area of delta wing in this case, straight wings in the case of the F2H which should have good turn rate) *both relatively large making easy targets also both have 2 engines, both with them mounted on the wing roots :D

You should switch to Indicated air speed instead of true airspeed. When you are at 7k meters altitude the true airspeed can be very deceiving. It looks like you’re going fast but you may actually be almost at stall speed.

How Gaijin could fix up/down tiering. I want to start this discussion because I feel like it's very important for the game so feel free to share this idea with others. Why does that system of up/down tiering exist? Thats right! It's to make queue times shorter. So what if there was a system that would allow you to decide If you want to be up/down tiert ore not and if yes at which scale. For example you could set it to „Your battlerating onely" for example 6.7. But If you can't find a Match because it takes to Long you could spread it out to 6.3-7.0. If that is Not enough you can Set it to 6.0-7.3 and so on(Note that 5.7-7.7 would be the max just Like it is in the Game right now) If you want this in the game like this comment so that more people will see it and beg Gaijin to put it into the game ;) and also feel free to comment what you would change on this idea to make it even better.

"Wing elevators" exist on combat aircraft. Did this have them? The model would indicate no. But the word you are looking for Phly is "elevon" which function as both aileron and elevator. There are also "tailerons" which are similar. The Javelin had a notoriously small aileron for its size in real life.

The English Electric Lightning was capable of Mach 2+. It was also capable of Mach 1.02 *without afterburner* and could climb to altitudes of over 26,000m (the maximum altitude is surprisingly enough still classified, despite the Lightning having left service 20 years ago, but there's a recorded instance of one climbing to an altitude of 26.8km). Not really in the same ballpark as the MiG-19 (Mach 1.22, 17,500m ceiling) and F-100 (Mach 1.3, 15,000m ceiling). Also bear in mind that the AIM-9B Sidewinder on the F-100 and the first-generation K-13 (an AIM-9B copy) on the MiG-19 had a top speed of Mach 1.7. A Lighting could not only fly far above the current Rank 6 jets in War Thunder, it could literally outrun their missiles. It would be practically invincible against them. To get a Lightning with performance in the ballpark of the MiG-19 and F-100 would require using the original P.1 prototype with non-afterburning Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire engines. The problem there is that the P.1 was unarmed.

Last brit vehicle that was good on release was the Caernarvon. It got triple nerfed after about a month. Armour removed, br increase and huge repair cost then solid shot got fucked as well. Gaijin just hates brits.

Thank you for doing this. Gaijin seems to be really REALLY hating on british vehicles. The challenger mk 3 has ERA blocks on the side when it should be chobham, the armoured bins are modelled as 5mm thick when it should be 25. The side fuel tanks STILL burn the tank down even though they are behind armour! I almost would be inclined to say geopolitics is the reason behind this

I don't know why, maybe because of some political and cultural reasons, Gaijin have done many bad things to British vehicles and planes .For example , the penetration of Chieftains , Challengers and BR of most Spitfires and ,of course ， repair fees .WHY ?This is unfair to we British players and this kind of "balance' is destroying the game we beloved !Many players including some of my friends have abandoned the game and leave it forever . Hey Phly, Actually the delta shaped wings have way better roll rate. They have less wing span relative to wing surface. That matters because the longer the span of a wing, the greater the angle of attack changes at near the wingtip (where we have the most leverage for rolling) at a constant angular speed along the roll axis. Just look at the roll rates of a Su-26 or Sbach-342 compared with, say, a Fox acrobat glider. Both are tuned for maneuverability, but the Fox has a much longer wing - so less rollrate. And for the turn times - it makes sense too because longer mean chord of the wing gives it more longitudinal stability, which means less maneuverability on that axis. So I could imagine relying on rolling scissors and airbrakes as your primary evasive maneuver. Good luck!

The A-4 is a delta, and it has a roll rate so fast it can inertially decouple itself and enter a flat spin. The PAPER limit is 720 degrees/second with a limit of 1.5 or 2 rotations... more than that and the weight distro around the roll axis pulls it out of coordination.

The javelin rolls so well as a delta wing because it has the vortex generators around the ailerons. This doesn’t explain the great roll rate and crap turn rate but that part of it.

It's not a fighter. It's an interceptor. It was made to fly fast to stop soviet bombers. It wasn't meant for dogfighting but to wreak havoc to strategic bombers formations. You must use the weapon as is intended for since the designs on RAF interceptors were limited to the roles proposed in the RAF doctrine.

Hey Phly, while you're doing quality control, could you please check out the AMX 10RC? - can't scout - can't snipe - can't turn - can't climb - can't reload - wobbly AF - huge recoil - 8.0 BR while the Centauro is 7.7 and it's better in EVERY way... Not to mention it's classified in the tech tree as Medium Tank, but in battle as a TD... And the recruitment button is the one for the Italians apprently... This whole patch is one botched-up mess.

Here's something that's likely to rustle a few more jimmies. the Challengers in the game are modeled off the Shir 2...and are literally just Shir 2s with a few things to make it look like a Challenger. In addition, all the other stats they have used for the Challengers, are quite literally, based off of pre-production, prototype testbeds for the CHIP program, which weren't actual challengers and were just meant to test those various improvements in FCS, transmissions and so on. So they're not Challengers in any way other than looks and name.

I knew these videos wouldn't take long to come out. Yes, it's the slowest and widest turning of the 3 new jets. But, it retains energy better than both the others combined. The Javelin can build speed well over 700 km/h in a full max elevator turn. Where the Mig-19 and F-100 turn better but rapidly bleed speed down to sub 600 and at the point fly like bricks. The issue is you are not using the plane to its fullest a lot of the times (like turning mostly with the rudder instead of rolling farther and using the elevator). When you did, you got away from the F-100. But then turned back into his world giving up the separation you had. I agree that the Jav still needs work. But its not a bad jet as it sits right now, you just need to pick your engagements carefully. I would still place it as better for the average player than the MiG-19.
