The 1930's OHV race bikes were designed by Jawa's chief designer, George Patchett, who also raced the bikes. I have a picture of George Patchett sat on his latest Jawa 350 OHV racer at the 1933 Isle of Mann TT, which he rode in the event.

@Wexdue292 жыл бұрын
In the early days the spring needed to be kept cool or they might break of weaken due to impurities in the steel. The problem was solved when it was melted under a vacuum.

Honda was inspired by NSU, not by Jawa. Honda's racers had nothing in common with the Jawas. Read my book "Honda's Four-Stroke Race History 1954 ~ 1981".
@BRI33NOR4 жыл бұрын
Joep Kortekaas And I used to collect NSU machines too !. My Mk1 1966 Honda CB450 Bore a remarkable resemblance to a much earlier Horex twin don't you think ?. I only thought there was some similarity with the two motors a Jawa and Honda, not a copy. Most companies learn from previous designs and improve them. Very few designs are brand new, just improvements.

A country whose engineering wasn't taken in limelight either if it is Tatra or Jawa! Tatra patent of having rear engine was stolen by Porsche and still is! Tatra's big monstrous V12 diesel aren't in people's heart coz they think Merlin V12 and others are superior to it! Same as this Jawa, world thinks there is lot of brands which are better than Jawa but they are so wrong! Love the video!❤️💯

Such beautiful bikes from the 1930s through to the 60s and still successful in speedway in the 70s what went wrong and why did they only end up producing 250 and 350 two strokes in the end
@BobJones-cr1pl3 жыл бұрын
It is astonishing that engineers like Tichy and Kaaden were able to produce their phenomenal racing machines while suffering the material and technological support afforded manufacturers in the West. It only goes to highlight the genius of these men who excelled in their respective disciplines despite the crushing oppression of the Communist political and social system.
