I had a 1982 Honda CBX1000 with Kerker 6 into 2 pipes which I modified the rear baffles on both sides. Sounded like a howling F1. Those were the days my friend.
@jeffmcelroy53644 жыл бұрын
I'll never forget the first time encountered " THE SOUND"- I was 14 and riding my bicycle to the beach in my town ( Gilford N.H. right next door to Laconia of motorcycle fame!!!), a long way off in the distance I heard a high pitched howl that kept getting louder and louder and louder untill it became a scream comming up behind me and then ...a flash went by but I couldn't even tell what it was, but I knew someday I had to have it. Fast forward to 20 years old and I bought a 1979 CBX. I was in the US Air Force living in Illinoise at the time and my one and only long distance road trip was to attend the Indy 500. I had no sleeping bag, no pillow, no money...nothing but the constant buzz in my teeth and hands when I finally got to the racetrack ha ha. the CBX was NOT made for long-distance highway touring I can tell you ha ha. I slept under it outside the racetrack and watched the most insane party roll by all day and night long at the biggest sporting event in the world. Quick story - there was a really drunk guy falling all over anything that wasn't nailed down and at one point he finds his way into a porta potty. his friends run up and TIP THE THING OVER with the door facing the ground!!!!! the sounds of him screaming inside had everyone withing hearing distance laughing hysterically. you could see the poop etc flowing out of the air vents at the top of the thing and he couldn't get out cause he was trapped!!! once his buddies rolled the toilet over, the guy climbs out COMPLETELY covered in you know what. for 5 seconds he's fighting mad but then he starts laughing and hugging his two friends and they all get smeared with poop and pee GALLONS AND GALLONS of the stuff. the porta potty probably hadn't been emptied in two days AT A MAJOR EVENT!!! it was overflowing to begin with ha ha!! man o man I'll never forget seeing the three of them dancing and hugging and dripping and I'll never forget the screams from inside. cracking me up even now as I write this ha ha. hope this made someone's day lol

Great video. I was a penniless student in Huddersfield back in the '80s trying to run a variety of bikes on the cheap. The motorcycle shop to go to was "Speedscene" in Birkby who were Benelli dealers. Now, sadly, gone. They had several of the 6's in the showroom but waaay out reach of my budget.

I used to own this bike. Made in 1978, only 2 of the same type were made after this. The last one sold /used as a prop in a Ferrari-Lamborghini dealership until 1988/. It ran the engine smooth like a baby`s butts...even revved up-a full cup of coffee on the bike did not spill.

When I was a kid in the late 70s there was a bike dealer about 500 yards from where I lived, mick Walker motorcycles, he dealt mostly in expensive exotic bikes ( laverda, mv augusta, ducati, harley and of course bennelli). Imagine being 12 years old and being able to hang out in that showroom? Oh yeah, and barry sheene lived about 2 miles away and a lot of us used to hang out round his place too, and you know what? He really didn’t mind, lovely guy.

The red café racer with RC166 pipes is astonishingly beautiful. I'm moved to say more beautiful than the original Ducati 916. In truth I didn't believe such a thing possible in my lifetime, given how exquisite the Ducati is. After riding for forty years and witnessing with growing sadness how brutally ugly and formulaic machines have become; How styling has become nothing more than candy-wrapping a hateful powerplant designed for a rulebook rather than a soul; to see that elegant work gives me hope that perhaps there is hope. That in the few remaining years until petrol engines are banned, we may see beauty once again on two wheels.

@Jeff Spicolli The same year as mine. It had belonged to one of the directors of Honda Britain from new. For some reason he didn't like either of the colours available in the UK and had Honda paint it in blue. I liked the red but to own a bike like that was just amazing. I was only 17 at the time and could afford the insurance because I worked for a dealer at the time. They allowed me to ride on their insurance. I was so lucky. The joy of six 😁

I have to agree that it sounds Freaking Great. As far as how they came up with a in-line six, here's the what the history tell us. Benellis six cylinder engine which was produced from 1972 to 1978, it was Honda at its core, because Benellis engine was derived from the Honda CB 500 Four engine(production 1971-1973), they just added two extra cylinders.........and here is Benellis history to prove it that their engine was based on the four - cylinder Honda CB500! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benelli_Sei
