Terrifying as a kid, now it's just hilarious. How many people go out being attacked by a shark, catching fire, and blowing themselves up, all within like 9 seconds? Oh man I loved growing up in the 70s and 80s, so much ridiculous fun and not a smart phone anywhere))

I grew up in this decade. These really were the best times in America ( 70’s , 80’s) for an explosion of great films. Jaws, Star Wars, Star Trek, Close Encounters, Superman, Friday the 13’th and the list goes on. I remember well the Histeria about people going to the beach and tourism was affected by this particular picture. Those were the best decades of my life . I believe it was the last of the real America! I miss it and would go back in a second if I could to live it all over again ..

I would like to point out that the boat driver did *NOT* intentionally pour the gasoline over herself. It was an accident. @@sukiduke348 If you were being attacked by a large shark in that situation, would you take the time to check and make sure there's no gasoline in the can? "Wait, hold on, shark. I need to make sure there's no gasoline in here first." Yeah, I could see how well *THAT* would work. She was panicked. I don't get why so many people point fingers at people who are in danger for making split-second decisions (even if they don't turn out well) when there's no time to think logically. If I was in that boat, I'd panic, too, and make the same mistake she did in a desperate attempt to hit the shark.

Wow! I remember this scene as terrifying. Jaws 2 was a really good movie. Yes it cannot compare to the original JAWS. It was still a great movie. Christy Freeman was great at water skiing. She’s incredible. Now I might be wrong, but the automated Shark Bruce did not appear in that scene. In the beginning of the movie, that Shark with its large dorsal fin appears to be real footage of a large great white shark. Even the underwater footage was real.. look at it closely. Can a shark swim that fast? Depends on bait used.

Tina survived after Eddie, by going silent or playing dead; but the waterski mom goes nuts , panics, and up in flames. Tina had good survival instincts. The boating mom didnt. Life or death, is often about knowing how to react in emergency.

In real life, sharks let you bleed out so they won't injure themselves trying to attack it's prey unnessaruly. If your dead, the shark determines that it is safe to feed

to the people talking about the gas cap being loose: actually quite accurate that the cap would fall off! the can MUST be vented to run the motor, or else the fuel pump cannot pump fuel under vacuum in the tank. the cap would be either loose and leak quite a bit of fuel, or just fall off . its a notched cap, either on or off.

Another fun fact: the original outboard was a 1977 Evinrude 70hp 3cyl. in the gasoline explosion scene, the motor is now an unrigged 50hp 2cyl., presumably because they didn't want to destroy the more expensive one.

I'm sorry I just can't find horror movies like this scary, no way in hell does a shark even care about something random flying past on top of the water at 40 mph and the there is no way he could even stalk it at that speed. Too much random stuff happening just to be scary and nothing makes sense
