FILM DESCRIPTION:
This third sequel to the 1975 mega-hit Jaws returns Lorraine Gary to the role of Ellen Brody, widow of the Roy Scheider character from the first two films. When her son Sean, the current police chief of shark-plagued Amity Island, is killed by the beast, Ellen goes to the Bahamas to comfort her surviving son. Michael Brody (Lance Guest) and his friend Jake (Mario Van Peebles) are marine biologists there to help, but in the end it is up to Ellen and her new beach-bum love -- played by Michael Caine -- to put a halt to the fishy horror. Director Joseph Sargent concludes the series with an ending chosen from several alternate possibilities.

Gawwwd I remember being SO excited for this movie to come out when I was a kid.... Then going to see it in the theater and thinking "yeeeah no". My grandma took me, and she was excited to see Michael Caine.... ....and then couldn't believe he'd star in something like this.

@@Crysisplaya Yep. It's just amazing though that the shark in the original (more than a decade earlier) looked so much better. Not perfect, but better than this. There was a certain "power" the fin had cutting through the water (the "terror at the beach" scene in Jaws [1975] when the shark goes into the pond is a perfect example). In this film, the shark's fin is just flopping around (and you can even see the the tail is broken at 1:11 ), and it looks like it's just sitting in the water. Even Jaws 2 was great compared to this. Sad they couldn't do more with the legacy. 🦈🦈

I don't know, Man . . . 3??? 3 has some really, REALLY bad effects like that claymation shark trying to fit into the underwater control room that's obviously a model. The shot as it's approaching and breaks through the glass was laughably bad. Now, the actual mechanical shark, I'm trying to think of a moment in 3 when it looks glaringly fake. I'd have to rewatch it.

In the theater, Jake died. I remember that seriously pissing off my mom lol. In the "extended for television" version, Michael finds him hurt but very alive. Quite the difference.🦈🦈🦈

I watched it years later where he lived (Was 7 in theater) and was like: "I swear that dude died" lol. Was second guessing myself for years before learning for whatever reason the director or whoever just randomly edited out 30 seconds showing him alive.

Does anyone know why Mike quit his job as a theme park engineer (Jaws 3, 1983) and retrained as a marine biologist (this film, Jaws 4,1987)? Maybe the trauma of those people being eaten in front of him by the shark at SeaWorld made him chose a new career. What a shame for him that he starts his new job and then a new shark is coming to get him and his family here aswell.
