I don't think the 4K for one train was a good idea. Since the rest of the video was filmed in 1080 it looks like the whole thing downloaded in 1080. The 3rd train was the 4K train. Tomorrow my video will all be in 4K. It will be a little longer and took all night to download. 4K adds a lot of work to making videos. On bigger screens you can see the difference.
@jameschristiansson31373 ай бұрын
If 4K is worth the extra effort to you for you to do it, do it. Given that the ambient lighting conditions you shoot in are less than ideal much of the time I don't think exporting at 4K will ever make much of a difference to me. George of Jumping Off the Cliff has carried his Sony A7 rig which costs thousands and has captured some low light railroad video that looks spectacular. You'd have to ask him but I think the complexities of the Sony are such that he has also missed some footage fooling around with it. A guy named Potato Jet shot a train with his super expensive Arri Alexa cinema camera in 1080p that blows away most railfan footage I've ever seen. You need to be a gorilla to haul that heavy camera around though. I'm in it for the trains, your videos are well made and look good.
@JawTooth3 ай бұрын
@@jameschristiansson3137 thanks for the info! I will stick with 1080 unless it's something special. I try to travel as light as possible since I do a lot of walking. I don't even carry a tripod

Fun channel. I grew up in Montreal Quebec Canada near train yards (commuter and freight) and always remember the sounds and rumble and watching them. Now I live in Fitchburg MA and again I live near train yards and tracks and I still get the rumble and related sounds of trains that pass through this neck of the woods. Still amazes me the amount of material that is moved over land by these behemoths. Thanks for your coverage. It would be interesting if you could tell us what's being transported in these cars, especially the tankers, when it is displayed on the car sides, I used to see a lot of sulfuric acid and various polymer precursors like vinyl chloride and the like. Unless that would not be allowed for security reasons.

Morning, all those double stacks is something we don’t see at this location because of low clearance tunnels on the Blue Ridge going into/out of Asheville ( east side of the mountains)only single stacks. Clean up and repairs from the hurricane are underway, it’s a slow process, however we’ll get there. I don’t know but I feel sure NS has major damage on the mountain, in Asheville for sure the rails run beside the French Broad and Swannanoa rivers.

Trains of all shapes sizes and colors something for everybody it was nice to see things back on track this time with two trains containing plenty of Steel in gons and coil cars. Plenty of vitamin C from Tropicana and the four reefers for potatoes appropriately passing the restaurant. Brandi must have gotten that burst of energy from the early fall days. Those tank cars are so new they haven't had a load yet nor a hazmat placard placed in the holder. Also the commodity and other comments are still taped over and most important to the company it needs PROCOR lettering. Never a dull moment there

That last tank car at 16:55 was carrying something that I only remember seeing one other time in any train video; gasoline. I guess railroads don't haul much gasoline? I look for the number 1203 all the time and never, ever see it. Does anyone know of a reason why the lead locomotive is almost always a GE? I've seen so many trains with say, two EMDs and a GE and the GE will be the lead. Is it just a weird coincidence? Do crews like them better? lol That signal, I couldn't see the green on this notebook but I saw the red light come on.
