You might enjoy the most recent episode of "Hacks" on HBO Max, staring Jean Smart. She performs a dialogue discussing how she (her character) is experiencing aging and how she needs to savor so much. I'm grateful for any platform and contributor who talks about a topic that is strangely taboo, unless you're making a joke or complaining about age-related challenges in our society. At almost 62, my intention for the last third is similar to yours. My intentions now include an even greater priority put on plant-based eating, fitness, exercise, flexibility... whereas, when I was younger, it didn't need to be at the top of my list of needs. Much appreciation to you.

I have to keep reminding myself that aging is a gift. More and more I find I have to rely on what I know internally because there's not an abundance of external validation. It's OK. We wouldn't have gotten where we are without being strong and savoring doing challenging things. 💪 🎉❤

Love your show as always. Thanks for the wisdom of “aging”. We have such a culture that doesn’t necessarily appreciate substance, but rather sticks to “the surface”. Anytime we can support each other to “be where our feet are”, we all win! Lovely vest. The striping is exquisite!

Here's a little limerick for you... There once was a girl named, Jackie. So Stylish and Knits?, how wacky! (insert wink emoji) She helps us to see, that art it can be, like Gaultier, Chanel or Bob Mackie! I so loved(as always) this episode. Thank you so much!

Great episode. You give voice and words to the thoughts I have, but didn’t know how to express so thank you. I love the idea of how the world around me can be inputs to my creating. Plus, thank you for giving me permission to not rush through life and just intentionally enjoy and savor the moment.

I really enjoyed your episode. Loved all you talked about regarding aging in a society that doesn’t value graceful aging. Thank you from Glasgow in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Jackie, we once met a few years ago back in Black Mountain, NC (yarn shop) .. it was a pleasure meeting & chatting with you then and just sooo wonderful for me to be able to follow your making/ knitting journey years later. An inspiring podcast. I love your insights and sharing about aging. The fact that the group of school boys and their school sweaters inspired you to do the added color bands in sweater is awesome! Inspiration is everywhere we just need to be aware. 😎

Hi, Jackie. It would be fun to see the capsule wardrobe you took to Scotland. One of the things I've admired about your making of late is how you are intentionally planning and coordinating your pieces. Separately, I love the mods to your vest. Coincidentally, before this episode dropped, I noticed the knitted vest (handmade? I don't know) of a co-worker with a striped v-neck and hem much like yours (no cables) and thought, wow, that's cute; I'd like to make one of those. So it was extra fun to hear about the inspiration for yours.

thank you for the thoughts about this topic which resonates with me as a person in their mid 60s and the pain and some sadness that comes with aging around losing the physical beauty I had and adjusting to how society looks at me now... it is different in many ways isnt it... sure theres the beauty you find when aging but theres also the having to say goodbye to what my physicality was in the first part of life... and the cricket boys reminded me of a trip I took, I was driving and took a "wrong" turn but I had an experience of an intensely beautiful powerful thunderstorm that I would not have had if I had driven the "right" way... love your projects and color ideas!

I really enjoyed your conversation about aging and incorporating your colours into your knitting but how you still keep it exciting for you to knit by incorporating colours that might not necessarily be in your colour palette.

It’s always such a relaxing and enjoyable time to watch you. You are so talented and thoughtful and I love how you see life through poetry. Love your projects and how you are approaching and talking about aging gracefully. I just recently started paying more attention to that ( although I’m sure I’m a lot older than you are) and I’m enjoying seeing life thought a different lense. Thanks for such a special time with you 💖💐

You are speaking to me more than ever in the past 5 years - but I have loved every podcast you have ever done. I’m more than a decade older than you and even I’m just starting to realize some of the things you are talking about in terms of age. It gets very scary and grace is so important!! I’m inspired by your mom and my husband who went through cancer treatment last year.

I love this episode so much! Your thoughtful effort is inspiring! I love that your “my age” and so much of your conversation is a familiar one!!! I loved it! It is such a blessing to age! Then alternative is not so good!😊 I am a slow knitter, so I am excited for slowing down! I can keep up better! Hahaha Thanks for this thoughtful conversation! You a blessing!

Lovely as always. I am going down the age naturally path, and at 56 I realise life really is a privilege and how I feel is my priority, but I must say some days, when I look in the mirror, it is fuel for a comedy session 🤭😂 thanks for sharing 🥰

Welcome home. I can see and feel the experiences that you had in Scotland, in all you are saying, and in your being. And can we all consider using the words being, or becoming, in lieu of the word aging? It always seems to me that the word aging is so 'loaded.' Magazine articles, ads, jokes, all tuned to make us feel desperate to avoid it. I just can't hold to that. We, as woman, as people, are becoming something different, or more, every single day. Yes, sometimes that means a loss of a physical ability, but with that, if we allow ourselves, is a huge gain in self-acceptance. I love being more in my mind and heart, even if my muscles are less. Some days I'm better at this than others, but I am trying to emulate that infamous and wondrous Velveteen Rabbit, and let my fur rub off, so that my heart can be more apparent. And what else?? I love, love, love where you are going. Take your time, but Sail on.

Yes, definitely! I think the undertones in my complexion changed and I find myself drawn to quieter colors. I still want to look my best, but I want be a quieter, calmer presence and not shout my appearance. I hope that makes sense! 😊
