Perfumes I have REMOVED from my wish list and why! Full bottle worthy?

Thank you for giving a balanced approach to fragrance purchases. Even if one has unlimited resources, I think it’s best to purchase only loves. I have 100s of small samples which are likes and I visit them periodically. It’s a form of aromatherapy and keeps me from wasteful consumption💐

My 2 cents: I tested God of Fire and thought it is meh. Althair is nice, but too masculine for me, at the same time I think it is too feminine for a man. Cassili is a big love for me 💘Silky Woods is a like but not love. Overall I really enjoy testing fragrances, no more blind buys for me :) better to spend couple pounds on a sample than be stuck with a full bottle.

I rarely buy full bottles blind, however, based in EU, if I would like something from either Asia or US I need to pay taxes and higher shipping costs. For a set of samples I pay barely less than for a full bottle, so in very rare cases I do order full bottle (3 x the last 2 years) blind. Argos, Zaharoff, Mind Games, House of Sillage … are not accessible over here. Unless someone in comments from Europe points me to a retailer based in EU.

I do this all the time. I add it to my wishlist, buy a decant, work my way thru the decant and either keep it on my wishlist or remove it. I just pulled 20 off my list a couple of weeks ago. Some were similar to what I have already.

I agree with many on your list. But I love silky woods because I love sweet gourmands. I don’t want to BB this year because I’ve been burned too many times, and this hobby is way too expensive. I’m going to try to get motivated to sell online this year tbd. Althair was too masculine for me.

OMG yes to God of Fire, Althair, and Cassili being a no after initially thinking they were a yes. Same experience. I nearly bought full bottles of all three but held off thinking I should retest and thankfully I did. I also thought Grand Soir would be FBW but it's not for me. Rouge Smoking smells much better on my son and I'm relieved I didn't buy a full bottle. This is a big lesson I've learned and I just returned from Europe last night thinking I would definitely bring back at least one new bottle. I did not buy one perfume on the trip for this very reason. I need to be wowed and I smelled dozens of nice fragrances but I didn't smell any that blew me away. Thanks so much for being balanced and truthful.

Althaïr, like many other PDMs, just had too much ambroxan for me. Sadly that's the same with BDK and Initio too. It's that in most PDMs, but sometimes we also get overdosed with iso E super too.

Great vid! I’ve come to realize that, sometimes, samples just don’t cut it. Best way to experiment with a perfume is to get a decant. What you thought was a love can quickly become a barely-like.

Hi Jackie, you have me rethinking the Decas fragrance. Your facial expressions said it all for me. Yikes! God of Fire was on my wishlist. I love Mango and Ginger. I love to eat mangoes as well. I don’t want to smell skanky for sure. I have the regular Pas Se Soir, I’ve never had a pull for the extract version. I’ve tested Altair and to be honest I have too many in my collection that is similar without the dustiness. On a positive note I just bought a big bottle of Pallas Athene. I’m so excited, I went through my sample and just couldn’t get it out of my head. Now you have me interested in getting my nose on French Defense. This was a great video and I like your authenticity so much. ❤

Hi Jax, this was an excellent video and I think you are soooo right. You have to keep going back and testing perfumes. I only started my collection a year ago...and I agree with you. I only want LOVES in my collection. This was a killer list of perfumes you cut. Bravo. There are several that I have removed off my wish list: Tribeca, Honey Tobacco, Tonka Imperiale (I think it is discontinued now), Jardins De Misfahs. On the fence about Bora Bora, Sugar Leather, Manhattan. I too only want loves in my collection. Great great video.

Hi Jackie. I really enjoy Casili, but it does give out a bit of a peachy note. I think it might be the mix of frangipani, clean Musk and tart red currant in there. I totally get the not wanting too many cherry fragrances. I have many as well, but I might get Vicebomb next Fall. I enjoy it's darkness and that it's not too sweet. Most of my cherry fragrances are sweet.

I have a few samples that are strong /Masc like 'Silky Woods' but I tend to use a vanilla or 'Bianco Latte' with them. Cassili was nice but so underwhelming x

God of Fire is one that pulls a little off smelling on my skin, I don't know why, but I want to test it further, maybe in the warmer months it will get better ❤️ Altthair is a must have for me, but I'm waiting for the fall/winter season to get it ❤️

I have felt the same about Althair, Silky Woods, and God of Fire. The SHL Soleil de Jeddah Mango Kiss is much better for a mango scent. Hmm guess I’ll have to try Mind Games. The only cherry scent I have kept and love is Rouge Smoking but a dark cherry scent may be worth it.

My husband doesn't really compliment my fragrances much. He'll say if something smells good to him if I ask him what he thinks but for the most part he doesn't have much of an opinion. But for some reason Ellis Brooklyn's Bee layered with their Super Amber, he goes nuts for. I gave him a kiss goodbye one day and he actually pulled me back in and started sniffing me, lol He loves that combo. I love it too. It's become a fall staple for me. I'd be curious to try the one you recommended as I love a good honey fragrance. 🍯

Thanks for your honest opinions. It is so helpful. My favorite clone for TF Lost Cherry is Parfum de Cerise by Montagne Parfums. It was the fragrance that started my journey. I bought the OG and tested them side by side. The only difference my hubby & I could detect was the longevity. The clone is a solid 8 hours. And $40 for 50ml. And it happens to be their best seller.

I blind bought Decas from Xerjoff on Jomashop - and i sooo regret it. It is not my jam, i thought the tobacco would be amazing but the blend doesn't speak to me at all. I get a punchy soapy something from it that leans masculine to my nose. Ugh! So tired of blind buying and not enjoying the fragrances. I love the original pas ce soir so i ordered the extrait version when it was on sale. Luckily they sent a sample along with it because surprisingly I didn’t like it! It is much spicier and richer than the original and loses the light fruitiness of the original. Needless to say..I returned it! No regrets. I have to love it too.
