Generation Iron Fitness & Bodybuilding Network

7 жыл бұрын

IRON CINEMA - Every Monday we connect you with Generation Iron director Vlad Yudin. Get a first hand look at the entire journey of the bodybuilding industry - ranging from athlete interviews, behind-the-scene looks at major events, and insight into the Generation Iron Fitness Network‘s original shows and films.
Jay Cutler is a 4x Mr. Olympia champion and the person who eventually dethroned the legendary 8x Mr. Olympia champion Ronnie Coleman. In order to do that Jay needed to go toe-to-toe with Ronnie Coleman in all aspects of physique... including size. But what I found interesting while interviewing Jay is that he actually doesn't prefer that modern mass monster look. He didn't have a specific goal in mind for size - instead he just wanted to do whatever it took to defeat Ronnie Coleman.
Jay Cutler said so many interesting things in the course of filming Generation Iron 2 that there was no way it could all make it in. But now you can finally learn more about Jay Cutler's current viewpoint on bodybuilding (including his updated opinion about Kai Greene's recent endeavors) in this new extended GI 2 interview for Iron Cinema. Check it out above.
Bodybuilding, fitness, weight training - all on the Generation Iron Fitness Network!

"Bodybuilding is not Jay Cutler, Kai Greene and Phil Heath only. Bodybuilding can be a guy at 160 pounds that used to be 110 pounds." Goosebumps all over my body when he said that. What a great statement

If only more people understood that body building is an art. Most people see a body builder big guy and thinks oh... he thinks he a tough guy. But the guy that weight trains is thinking, "Are my arms big enough, does my left Pec match my right, Are my shoulders wide enough." I'd say it is the hardest discipline (or one of th hardest).

NPC/IFBB bodybuilding is about powerful prescription DRUGS. There has never been a Mr. Olympia or even just a Mr. Olympia competitor since the contest began 52 years ago in 1965 that has not been on DRUGS. I'm not hating on anyone, this is just a fact. Way back in the 40's and 50's guys like Reeves and Grimek were before steroids. Cutler gives this big long speech about promoting workouts and fitness, yet he has swallowed and shot boatloads of drugs into his system....and made himself into a cartoon character. He's a nice guy, but not mentioning his drug use is BS.
@LeoBlight
@LeoBlight 7 жыл бұрын
terry strand The entire American population is drugged up, either by prescriptions or some kind of substance abuse. Say what you want but these men live their dreams weather it is a risk to their health or not. i do not take drugs but ive trained for years and know how hard it is obtain a nice physic. Body building is an art. some people just use extra paint and paint brushes to create the portrait they want.
@terrystrand
@terrystrand 7 жыл бұрын
Leo...I have been in the iron game as a judge, contestant, trainer, etc. for decades. Would you want to have a son-in-law who was on bodybuilding drugs as they 'follow their dreams'? I feel sorry for the wife. Natural bodybuilding, sure. Drug bodybuilding, no. And I don't care what the rest of the world does. Nor am I a saint. But it's a dead end to take bodybuilding drugs to put on what is actually 'fake' muscle.
@LeoBlight
@LeoBlight 7 жыл бұрын
terry strand call it fake or what you want! you live your life and they live their life! if I ever went that route and took the drugs that's on me. I won't cry and scream be at people because of how they get the muscle/body of their dreams. As long as he is happy that's all that matters. that will he all!

terry strand he was born with diabetes so he has to take insulin giving him a natural carb advantage so his drug use is more grey area compared to other bodybuilders cuz either way BB or not he wed still be lean because of the insulin

An understated aspect of the bodybuilding community that is contradictory to the stereotype of "muscle head, meat head," etc, is the intelligence of the top echelon of the bodybuilding community. Jay is a good example of this and other legends such as Arnold, Frank Zane and list goes on and on. I'm not saying there aren't idiots and fraudsters but the top is pretty well represented.

The difference between Ronnie and Jay in terms of injurys is down to age, not training.
@sethmeyer258
@sethmeyer258 5 жыл бұрын
Its not nessecarily the way he trained. Yes it did play a part. But the bigger issue was that Ronnie continued to train in between surgeries when the doctors told him not to. His body couldnt heal and now he's paying for it. If he had waited and healed correctly hed be in a much better position than he is now.
@markfawn856
@markfawn856 5 жыл бұрын
@@sethmeyer258 That's only part of it since Jay never even needed to have surgeries to begin with. Jay did it in a way that I respect more since it's more inline with bodybuilding to improve the body instead ot destroy it. As a former Mr. Olympia his wins hold more value imo since they weren't won due to powerlifting methods(like Dorian), but BB principles. Even with roids involved it's has always tried to represent health and wellness, not dying at any cost to look the freakiest.

I always wonder who mentors these guys on their cycles and really gets into the nitty gritty with the fine tuning of everything in exquisite detail at the Olympic level. Like say I win a show at 22 and at the time was on some basic test and a few orals....who gets me into that crazy world of the igf, gh, diuretics, etc. and supplies everything? That's one thing all these top guys had going for them? Like Hey Ronnie you're getting big and you got potential...here take this. It's a grimey and risky world.
