The commandment “Thou shall not take the Lord’s name in vain”, in the proper context, means you shouldn’t falsely claim the will of the Lord. An major historical example of this being the Crusades, as the Lord wouldn’t want his name spread by the sword, especially when done for entirely political purposes. Jay clearly has little grasp on The Bible, so perhaps he shouldn’t speak on matters of faith. Legally he can, but morally he probably shouldn’t.

There's no middle ground for you to find, Bert. Following the rules doesn't get you into heaven. You "follow the rules" because you really want to once you appreciate the forgiveness and sacrifice that was made for you. All you have to do is surrender your life to Jesus. The voice of guilt when you do something bad is not from God, it's from the devil. The devil wants you to feel bad for the bad things you do, and numb yourself to that feeling. Once you've surrendered your life to Christ you are forgiven for everything immediately, because Jesus already paid for you failures. So feel no guilt about your past, it's about who you are trying to be right now. He was perfect, but died like the worst of us because he took the sins of the world with him. Literally sacrificed himself to save the world. No matter how far you've run from God, he always leaves the other 99 sheep to find the lost one. He's pushing you to reach out to him and will keep going until he is your last and only resort if he needs to, it sounds like he has before. Seek and ye shall find.
