@Gods True Creation right. jay Rock had the luxury to get the spotlight first because he had inked deals with Warner Bros, Strange Music AND TDE at the same time. And he would go on tour with both TDE and Strange camps to promote his albums and singles which set him up for success early on. Kendrick just had the bigger impact once he blew.

It’s crazy because in this video there’s an owl at the beginning flying free, they’re in Nickerson Gardens, Kendrick Lamar makes an appearance without being featured in the song, and Lil Wayne is in scenes where him and Jay Rock embrace each other and show respect. In Not Like Us, Kendrick is the one rapping, with Jay Rock making the appearance, still at Nickerson Gardens, has a similar dark room scene where Kendrick repels someone who’s depicted to be Drake, and at the end the owl is now caged. Full circle moment, that was probably not planned.
