My theory only!... to the answers to your questions 1. They didn't leave him. He decided to go with the two lads In their car and snapchatted them telling them why. 2. He needed to leave the a bnb ASAP as he could have taken the watch [ just a theory] from them. No time to do anything. 3. He thought he'd try his luck on getting that watch off them [ just a theory] that the two guys pinched. Told a lie about his mates leaving him. That is why he snapchatted to his mates where he was when in the car not telephoned 4. He thought if he stayed on the road he they would catch up with him [ rented car ] so he decided to walk off the road not realising the terrain, distance etc. 5. The drop is 600 ft. He was so far down you probably wouldn't see any birds if they even noticed he was there. 6. They get on my nerves too. My theory only. I hope my theory is that innocent compared to some. He was just a lad....yes got in to some bad things from what i have read online regarding news but yeah....just a lad and someones son....I mean no disrespect. I just hope the future teens learn from this and realise they need to be alert and sensible on holiday whether that be abroad or at home. @katyg38733 ай бұрын
It was broad daylight when he apparently left the air bnb. It wasn’t dark. He could clearly see where he was going. There are multiple shops and bars back down that road. They would have been open or at least people getting them ready. There would have been hikers in the gorge. He would have been able to see where he was walking. Also the dogs would have picked up his scent and tracked it to the cliff. Upon which they would have lost it and started going mental. The handler would then think oh, He’s gone over this cliff.

Gets in the car and snapchats to his mates he's in a car and they've just stole a watch....he didn't know that the drive was so far... The road leading out of that area is extremely long and winding you’d probably drive 5km to go 1 km as the crow flies . So maybe he thought he’d try take a short cut …… big mistake as it’s almost impossible to walk in them ravines.. I live in tenerife and trying to walk through that type of ravine is a non starter … But I still have serious doubt about this story !!
@falcosirrus86203 ай бұрын
Having been in similar situations i can get why people persevere with short cuts. It starts off fine and after a while you realise it wasn't a good idea. Then you have a choice of going back knowing that the way back is difficult, or keep going and maybe the difficult part will end quicker than it is to go back, and at least you are not having to double back. So you go further and find it hasn't ended and are faced with the same choice but now your way back is even further, so you again continue. Alternatively, the route does clear for a while and then gets tough again and you think it will just be tough again before clearing again, so you continue. The further you go the more committed you are and the less appealing it is to double back. Plus, sometimes you are quite enjoying the sense of risk and adventure (as Brad described him initially), your adrenaline is going, or sometimes you can get a bit panicked and make even more irrational choices (as Lucy described him shortly after once cut by the cactus). Also, his body being found at the bottom of an inaccessible ravine does not mean the route from where he fell was inaccessible.

I have no idea what happened but an open mind is good.. I have not been to the Tenerife mountains but have gone up hiking in Lanzarote.. There are tiny *very steep volcanic gulleys and hundreds of caves/ deep ravines of many sizes.. They are covered in dense spiky shrubs, not just the odd cactus. Its like nothing I have ever seen before. I can understand Jay not being spotted.. Watch the footage of the chopper lifting him out and look at the terrain. It also gets really windy and sand and volcanic dust swirls around everywhere, hence the dogs maybe not knowing? If people are assuming his body was kept somewhere for weeks (obviously in the open because the coroner will be aware from insect activity) and then disposed of at a later date back by his phone location, alongside clothes that also showed wear and tear from outside? Fair enough but by whom and why move him? Drugs are a factor if he was deliberately harmed, but Jay was hardly a big player over there.. Because of the watch?

With that being said, this is the only remotely close information that I found: Why do mountain goats follow people? Mountain goats also crave the salts found in human sweat and urine. They may follow people to obtain sweat soaked clothing or hiking gear. Male goats may become particularly aggressive during the breeding season, which begins in October and continues through December

Maybe they have the video tape from the shop up the hill and could see Jay was alone and not followed. Maybe they have other eye witnesses that called in to say they witnessed Jay out on the trails. Maybe they have used the numbers that they got from the B&B guys to check if their phones showed them leave the B&B on the day he went missing. They could have kept a lot of things to themselves in this investigation.

There are still so many unanswered questions, and if I was Jay's parents I would be asking why did his friends just let him go off with these two older men to such a remote part of the island. If the guy at the AirB&B is telling the truth about offering Jay the opportunity to charge his phone, get some water and why did Jay refuse a lift when he had no idea where he was. If Jay was hung over from booze, drugs etc what made him walk in what is perilous terrain, he could have just turned round when the going got bad, but for some reason he didn't. It just doesn't make sense. Why didn't the sniffer dogs pick up his trail, and why was there no sign of vultures and other birds in that area? Was his body there all that time?

they already stated that the ravine was not throughly searched before. the search team did say he would not have been able to get out himself. they had to use rope access and even airlift his body. Can it not just be left now please. As an experienced hiker/climber/mountaineer i have been involved in several searches. And, It was always (unfortunately) pretty obvious to me what had happened. Finding a body in terrain like that is incredibly technical and difficult. They are rarely in the open and visible, even from a few metres away, and if a fall is involved, they usually bring down loose soil, rocks, and foliage with them, covering their remains. It can take a day to cover less than a football field. It can take days to get in and out of 1 ravine. Sadly, many are never found or are found but classed as not retrievable, so remain on the mountains where they passed. Finally, him being further away makes sense if you think logically. He's not going to have made his last call and then died straight away, it could have been an hour, 2, 3 hours after the call that he fell or slipped and in that time he would have been walking.

I can’t help but wonder why no one spotted the helicopters! They say they carried on a discreet search to avoid people going there but they also had to air lift the searchers out because it can’t be climbed out of…so in a relatively small area they continued a DISCREET search being air lifted out but no one noticed or even heard the helicopters. Yet it still took a week!!! What about the video of a disturbance in the area the night before the discovery that set off all the goats and dogs in the early hours? And stranger still the discovery came the day after it was reported that Jays mum announced they had organised specialist mountaineering searchers from the Netherlands. In the defence of all the people speculating the inaccuracies of the events and with no disrespect meant in any way to Jays mum, as I can’t imagine how his poor family must be coping right now. I feel it all started when she said she thought someone had taken him, then he’d had gone with two strangers… just saying .

Young man on his own, off his head, dehydrated with no battery traveling by foot somewhere he doesn't know and in treacherous terrain. There could be more to it but I think there is enough there to explain how he met his demise. As for the police taking a month to find him he may have fallen out of sight been covered in debris. The fall could explain him also having some clothes not on his body because it would have been torn off as he tumbled. Personally until we know more I find it likely that answers given thus far are correct.
