Warcraft 3 Reforged supposedly will alter the original Warcraft 3 campaigns, so let's blast through Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne on Hard difficulty before Reforged is released! These videos will contain all cinematics and dialogue along with explanations of the strategies I'm using as a semi-walkthrough.
I am nowhere near as experienced with these maps as the StarCraft 2 campaigns, so it won't be quite as polished of a playthrough, but we will succeed through Hard difficulty nonetheless!

In case anyone is wondering: Archimonde's speech at the end around 33:31 talks about how the Eredars (Draenei and Man'ari) were the original arcane wielders and soon, the elite Night Elves known as the Highborne ruled by Aszhara somehow learned to use Arcane. Then after the Burning Legion was first defeated 10,000 years ago, the Highborne was exiled and moved east to Quel'thalas where they became High Elves, then with the Humans they banded together and built the magical city of Dalaran. Tl;dr: Dalaran was literally using stolen knowledge from the Eredars

Man it was pretty stupid of the night elves to exile the highborne seeing they were partly responsible for the demon invasion. The night elves knew it was because of arcane magic so they then send the highborne away where they can't keep an eye on them? Should have enclosed them somewhere where they could be watched.

@@hazzmati keeping thousands in custody is not a great idea, both morally and logically, and it was the choice of the Highborne to sail east. Not to mention the high elves couldnt really do anything to fuck everything up without the World Tree. So it wasnt that bad of a decision

There is nothing wrong about arcane magic itself, but seeing how abusing it lead to invasion of Burning Legion and splitting the continent in half, I can see why night elves were biased against it. High elves learned something from past mistakes and didn't abuse their power like they did in past. Also despite Archimonde's big talk, Dalaran and it's mages proved to be much more resilient than he expected, because city was retaken (with help of Garithos, which is omitted), put under magic dome and lifted to the sky to be rebuilt.

Using Halls of the Dead as a defensive structure is by far one of the best strats. The high health, high defense, and high damage and relatively cheap cost over all (compared to building towers over and over) is a huge plus.

I did this mission yesterday. A bit frustrating but very good. There is a strategy to alleviate the attacks a bit and it is to use the goblin land mines to destroy much of the base on the left. You have to do it from the beginning with Arthas, and you will have a less base to worry about.

Yeah I cheesed it too by blowing up the left base. Takes alot of trial and error though

Thank you, I just tried this and it worked perfectly. Without the left base's steam tank this mission become 3x easier. I don't even need to produce a lot of troops to defend, just 50/90 is enough lol

Banshee curse is a life saver....the hit miss chance makes a huge difference in the longer fights especially.

About ghoul frenzy, that actually speeds up their lumber harvesting. Which is why in "The awakening of Stormrage", the time limit is much faster on hard than on normal (looking forward to your attempt on that).

Posting before I watch, will edit after: Last time I did this, I setup Black Citadel(s) at each major base entrance. It worked well, combined with the expected mobile force. Let's see what Jay does! EDIT 1: Looking good to start, setting up Necropoli at the entrances early! EDIT 2: Dang, he's going more ham with them than I did. I think I got 2 out at each entrance, then flooded out Frost Wyrms. Final Edit: As an aside... in my earliest days of WoW, I hoped against hope that it was possible to find that Mark Archimonde left behind when he destroyed Dalaran in WoW.

My strategy here is to use goblin land mines to kill the units inside the left human base, then destoy that base to avoid the attacks from the steam tanks, as I think it is easily the hardest unit to deal with in this mission. This mission in my opinion is clearly the hardest mission in Warcraft 3 Reign of Chaos in Hard mode.

Fun run xD. Btw if you massed frost wyrms first before going ham on the tower a 90 supply army of wyrms + Infernals + Demon dogs can wipe out any attack force the HU throws at you. If you feel ballsy enough you can even try adding 4 - 5 Wagons and attempt to destroy the blue human base on the east, then destroy the grey one after. IIRC there are some really good items in the grey base, too bad you can't make use of them after this mission.

I like to patrol acolytes with auto repair toggled, and I give them big sweeping, dynamic patrol routes between them so they criss cross and have a good distribution (and FO when it's repaired out of danger). Also, I've never thought of using halls of the dead like this!

I wish Reforged changes some units here like change the riflemen to high elf archers and the mortar teams to ballistae or gnomish battle mages Dwarves cannot be mages and they better be replaced by gnomes or high elf in this chapter

If you really need to save your towers, one thing that confuses the ai is friendly fire. By manually targeting your own stuff, enemy units hesitate for at least one round of shots. This also works in a melee fight, but not so much against ranged units targeting your units.

Staying at the first Halls upgrade is best imo. Though there is a slight damage increase I think as a Black Citadel.

Well that was a much better strat than the other one I saw. There's a strat where you take the goblin land mines and with the quickness set them around the human cities destroying their unit producing structures. I believe you take a potion of invulnerability but that lasts like 15 sec and my reflexes are not that good. Anyway the map never expects you to be able to make it inside so was never programmed to rebuild. This is a much safer strat to last till the end. I think I just tried surviVing with a lot of save scumming and zigs galore

I honestly hope Blizzard knows what is doing while saying that Reforged is not a separate game, but conversion to 4K graphics. It would be a shame to see those bugs from original in Reforged.

When I played this level ages ago, I spammed spirit towers. But those get destroyed so easily. The HotD method seems way better.

The HOTD strat is sublime. Might end up having to employ it if Reforged keeps this mission format. Never beat this mission w/o cheats.

They also freeze and slow enemies in Frozen Throne. Ziggurats can be also upgraded to slow enemies or deal more piercing damage. Blight gives undead increased health regeneration. It makes undead base very hard to attack, but it's needed to protect acolytes.

you know what the scariest thing is that Reforged is not even just a separate game it's going to be a complete conversion of the original game all together so if this ends up being total shit and buggy as all hell Blizzard could potentially destroy WC3 forever again I'm praying to god that it's gonna be good but sometimes I wonder if it's even worth changing WC3 don't get me wrong I love the HD graphics but wouldn't it be better to just make the HD remaster it's own separate game and call it oh I don't know uh WARCRAFT 4!!!!!

Pardon Lord, but a being of Kel'thuzad/Antonidas' power can only be reanimated at a nexus of powerful Ley Energies, and there are no such places in this land.

Something to remember: Kel'thuzad was, before being exiled for Necromancy, once a member of the Council of Six of Dalaran, so his power would indeed be comparable to Antonidas in all likelihood. Of course, they're not all at the same level of strength, but the Council of Six are all very powerful wizards in their own right.
