I have made doily inspired placemats but mine have scalloped edges. I like that yours are pointy. 😊 They were easy and quick to make. I like mine under a plate on top of a placemat. It does look like a charger, as you say, and gives a more substantial look without actually being heavy. My aunt liked mine so much when she came to dinner that I made her a set as well. And now my other aunt wants a set, too, so I will be busy making placemats soon. Loved the video. It was very clear and easy to follow. Thank you! 💖🌸🌈👏

Thanks for this tutorial. 💕 I've used doilies as place mats before; I made several 6-pointed pineapple doilies in different colors in college to put under my clear glass dishes. I remember one boyfriend didn't think that that was really clever. No surprise that we didn't date for long. I have young children now, so we use quilted place mats with the alphabet and numbers. We need some tractor-themed place mats, I think.

Hi Jayda, Thanks so much for showing me how to do a placemat. It looks really pretty. Can you use different colors in the doily placemat?

Hi Barbara, if you wanted to change colours throughout this pattern, you certainly could, I would suggest any colour changes be done at the ends of rows and not in the middle :)

Awesome I would’ve never thought of making a Dorley to go under my China plates

I like to set a fancy table every once in a while, but I must admit, we use these little placemats daily! Thank you for watching, Donna :)

Hi Esther, you can try using this pattern with a larger crochet hook size and/or with a heavier weight of cotton yarn :)

Hi Jayda, I am so glad I found you! You explain things very simple and slowly! I do have one question, which I am not sure you do...when you go under the chain or loop, are you going under 1 or 2 of the loops. I've seen some KZbin tutorials that do just either the front loop or just the back loop and some that go through both. Being a somewhat beginner, it would help to know which is best. Thank you! And, I have to agree with Ms. Perry, you have such a bubbly persona and very welcoming!!! :-) :-)

Hi Lori! If you're joining at the top of the Chain-3, you can really use whatever part of that stitch makes it easy AND keeps it neat and tidy against the stitch next to it. I typically use the chain like I would if I were to crochet into it (so 2 loops across the top, 1 underneath my hook). This can change depending on the pattern (or teacher) because you can get slightly different effects depending on what part you use. For this pattern, it's not terribly important which part you use :)
