The schemes are really bad. I do think some of the offensive linemen are maybe a little over the hill but the offense is constantly in 3rd and long and running terrible blocking schemes so there's no hope for them even if they were talented. The point about every pass being more challenging than it needs to be is spot on and what kills me is that it's not like the hard throws they're forcing Trevor to make are creating big gains, the juice is never worth the squeeze.

What makes you believe Patrick would be successful on any team. He literally got drafted to one of the best situations, with an offensive guru for a coach.

Ppl put too much stock in what he did without Tyreek Hill ignoring he still has one of the best TEs of all time. But notice when Kelce is load managing like he has the last 8 regular season games or in the stints he was contained in postseason that Mahomes production is pedestrian at best. It was only when Kelce turned it on in 1st half vs Ravens in AFCCG and 2nd half vs 49ers did their offense have any life. I think it’s lots of ppl in denial that if Father Time truly catches Kelce within 1-2 years that Mahomes could be much closer to the rest of the pack as a QB and those days of the Chiefs offense scoring 30+ PPG are truly in the past

Kinda wild that a team like Jacksonville, who has problems with WR catching the ball went out and spent money on Gabe Davis

I think there was a bit of waving off of the Jacksonville offensive line problems in the show. They've had a bottom-3 unit every year since Trevor came into the league. This was often excused or not even noticed the first 2-3 years because Trevor was regarded as "elite" at avoiding pressure (with numbers to back up) AND, most importantly, the offensive scheme in their playoff season in 2022 was built around mitigating these line issues through crossing routes/"easy" throws to get their guys in space (although limitations to downfield/explosives existed). That mitigating scheme goes away last year (overconfidence with addition of Ridley + what Mitchell says about making things hard because technically Lawrence can handle). They have one of the most inefficient run games. It kills their offense and gets Lawrence injured. This year, the best case scenario people were hoping for with the o-line was 16th! Barely average! Best case! And yet again they fail even that and are producing as bottom 2-3 unit. The scheme is now not only failing to mitigating this, but is actively playing into the issue, with many plays (including the safety-sack week 2) being long developing plays. But protection breaks down near instantly. The 4th down play on Monday is a perfect example: 4th and goal from outside the 10, they call all-verts from empty against essentially prevent defense, RT gets beat quite literally instantly, Trevor can't even complete drop back before he has to scramble but due to dlineman not being touched he gets the sack easily. No one was even close to being open regardless. I think that with the injury last year, and the even worse line play this year (in part due to lack of schematic answers) Trevor is a bit broken, is frustrated and thus is not able to pull out the magic he had in 2022 - into early 2023. To me this screams that the entire organizational system around him (coaching - same head coach, OC, o-line coach for 3 years despite massive regressions each year - and GM/personnel) is completely unworkable and belligerently ignorant to the reality of their team and of the NFL at large.

Like McVay, Pederson calls plays that All Look Alike & confuse defenses because they can't know what's coming. As a result it took me One Play to identify that they weren't running Pederson's plays. One play. In week one. Of '23. & because they changed things to a far more inept system that doesn't know how to disguise anything or assign correct players to correct routes or roles, they have shut down their own offense. *Everything else is on top of that* because if they fixed anything else, that simple basic fact would still undermine all those fixes. We're at a point where it seems as if someone in ownership is forcing Pederson to accept Press Taylor's play-calls. & after a year+ of realizing that ownership sees that as a higher priority than the team winning has taken its toll. The players have Checked Out. They're not trying because their efforts have & will continue to be useless & disregarded. It's sad.

Just out of pure curiosity, what are those avoiding pressure numbers? Bc he has not been good this year at it but some dudes I really respect (Theo Ash for example) have raved about his pressure avoidance in the past.

@@ledgnr197gaming5 The pressure avoidance numbers I think of are up til his injury last year. I think he has been very jumpy and uncomfortable in the pocket this year. I remember coming out of his rookie year the main positive people took away was his sack avoidance numbers, which masked a terrible line.

Jacksonville Jaguars have problems in all three phases in football. I got it from pro football reference Offense line is terrible 5th worst in NFL One of worst 3rd down offenses 6th least explosive offense Defense Most yards after catch No turnovers after three games On of the most penalized teams Bad red zone defense Bad starting field position(defense starts at 33 yard line) Special teams Terrible Kick Returns Terrible Punt Returns Bad returns ties into the offense since they get the worst starting field position in NFL by average.

I thought Daniels played really well in the second half of the Giants game. He looked good, but a bit like Justin Fields in the Tampa and the first half of the NY Giants game where he was make a read and if its not there get ready to run. It was somewhat effective, but capped his ceiling. I thought the second half of the Giants game he played well and that carried into the Bengals game. I also think Kliff is doing a great job at calling plays and gameplanning for Daniels. Much better than Bieniemy did for Howell. It doesn't even mean Kliff is a better OC than Bieniemy, in another situation, maybe Bieniemy is better, but in terms of keeping things manageable and the right amount of complexity for a young QB, Kliff is doing a far far better job than Bieniemy who basically just ran his normal offense with Howell.

With all the former players in the NFL media now, I keep asking what their credentials are. Do they have an excellent gambling record? Have they proven themself as a fantasy football player? Are their analysis / communication / journalism chops the best of anyone out there? Being big, athletic and tough gives me nothing. Give me the smartest, most engaging candidate.

Having experience in the NFL is probably 5-10% of the equation, if that. What makes a good presenter/analyst are communication & analytical skills, passion & likeability. Having played in the NFL provides no evidence that anything you say is correct, or engaging. People who have a record of being right have proven they're worth listening to. Some ex-players are the best of the media, but it's also packed with uninteresting dumb jock ex-players who are bad at analysis & talking. [Again, not this guy - he's not bad.]
