Took my New York State driver’s license test in this car . It was my moms . NYS inspector looked terrified . All he made me do was drive to the end of the street, do a three point turn ( no easy feat in this car without power steering ) and return to where we started . He couldn’t get out of the car fast enough . Handed me my temporary license and me and mom drove off . My mom was a very cool lady.

Didn't you tell your engineers to build a F40? But as I know a lots more about cars I just wanna go back in time, and grab my younger self, then say "Use your freaking brain kid! A very attractive car and, a splendid review of it! Congratulations, J! A couple of decades ago, I had the pleasure of regularly driving a couple of Ferraris that a former boss of mine owned. One was a 400i and, the other a 365GTC. The 400i was a bit of a barge, to be honest! Only really suited for Autostrada use. The GTC, however, was a delight. Your review reminded me of how I felt, whenever I had the chance to drive it. You explained it perfectly, J! 'An event'! Actually better looking than the 330, the 365 had single headlights but, a very similar rear. It was a 2 seater really with just a gesture of rear seats. The paint was a deeper blue than the 330 reviewed but, still a wonderful colour! The engine was the 4.4 litre V12 and, an absolutley glorious sound, as your review showed! I think my boss payed around £14,000 for the car, in the mid 1980's and sold it a few years later for not much more. I saw it advertised for sale in a classic mag 10, or so, years ago and, it was priced near half a million. Eric Clapton had the 'sister' Ferrari 365 GTC to my boss's one, in exactly the same colour. Mr. Clapton's car had the number plate '365 GTC'. My boss's was 'GTC 365'! Thank you for the splendid review! It brought back some wonderful memories!

No doubt about it... James always does a great review on whatever car he's driving.. and this review of the 330GT is excellent. You either love this car or you don't. The Chinese eye headlights are not too everyone's taste. I have fond memories of this model. When I was. 15 in 1967, I was spending my Christmas holidays on the Murray river with a friends family. A local Adelaide man, who also was a friend of my parents, arrived in a rhd 330GT. I was blown away. Ferraris were rare cars in Australia at that time, and to get the chance to go in one was too good to miss. I was in the back seat when he took it out on the back road and hit the magic number.. 100mph..my first time I did the ton. The same man left his son a 212 Inter and a rhd 275GTS...a very rare car. I tried to buy it from him for years. I know two guys in Melbourne who both have 330GTs. A few GTCs as well, which are far superior and really beautiful. So they are around.

I know many stories like yours of people seeing a Ferrari in the 60s or 70s and maybe not seeing one for another year
@stevendaly1102 жыл бұрын
Hi Tony, wonderful story, thank you! In about 1983 my Dad took me to see a dark, metallic green 330GT in a local car dealership (Perth WA). From memory, it was for sale for $25,000. I was 16 years old and so I lacked both a driver's license and $25K! But I just loved it. I have always preferred the quad lights to the single headlight styling that followed. Something about it not trying too hard to look pretty and yet the lines being elegant and clean. And also it looking a bit French as well as Italian--very sophisticated. I think maybe the same car was offered for sale a couple of years back on CarSales, with a price tag of $425K. Still just as wildly out of my league as before, I'm afraid. But the cars that made an impression on us as kids and teenagers ... they stay special in our imaginations. A thoroughly enjoyable tribute from James too. Well done!

A beautiful review, brought a tear to my eye. I have a 1967 330GT that my father bought the year I was born. Ferrari dealers love it, but the Ferrari community in general, turn their noses up at it as it is not as stylish and glamorous as a 250, 275 and others. I just potter around in it here in monaco as an alternative to my modern California. I know it's unloved, but I will never part with it 😥.

this has been my dream car since i was 20 years old..... there was one for sale in Ferrari dealer where i live when the 550 maranello was just around, , for 25k euros of today....you could buy a used BMW 580I coupe with that money to give the idea..... I didn't get to interested in trying to make a deal because back then i knew nothing of how to maintain a classic car, and the dealer explained to me that when i asked him if this car would have life into it let, he simply told me that they are hard to get going even in a straight line and need always constant care, and they are prone to breaking easy..... but i will never forget how in awe i felt and the gargantuan coolness factor this car has and will always have..... this and the model with single headlamps that came after in 1967 are by far and by all means the most gorgeous Ferraris ever made, nothing on 4 wheels comes close to the class of this model... even a boiled egg behind the wheel of one of these could belittle the coolness of Steve McQueen a million times..
