Bagels also originally come from Krakow. Obwarzanki were made already in the 14th century, and bagels began to be made by Krakow Jews in the 17th century. It was an occasional bake. They were given to women after a successful delivery. Emigrants brought bagels to the United States in the 19th century. They are a symbol of New York today.

Kraków's main square is not only one of the biggest in Europe but it in fact is the biggest in Europe. And before 1820 there used to be earth embankments and a moat where the Planty park is right now.

Dużo radości i najlepszego, a ja oglądam dalej! ; ] Oh, and btw: Jayesh, I'm watching your vids cos you too! :D Cheers dude! ; ]

Hey Jayesh!! Nice video mate! What can u tell me about the weather?? (I want to go to Krakow in March 2025)........above zero? below zero? rainy? Another question, what is the best place according to you for buying souvenirs? what is the best market to try REAL local food? Greetings from Chile!!
@JayandKarolina6 ай бұрын
Hey Mirko! Here’s Karolina speaking :) March is a tricky one because the temperature during the day can vary from 0-15 degrees depending on the year haha and it might be sunny but also rainy so you need to be prepared! Regarding souvenirs you’ll see them stands around all Kraków - either on the streets or shops in small alleyways. Maybe Cloth Hall might be the place for you to check out too. And in terms of the food, there’s no right or wrong way in Krakow because there’s so many authentic places/restaurants. I can definitely recommend you to look for dishes like PIEROGI, GOŁĄBKI, and meats like SCHABOWY, MIELONY, KARCZEK that you eat alongside salads and potatoes… We love our soups and homemade cakes too so make sure you try some! Hope it helps :) Check our ig (@jayeshchhaya) because we are big foodies so we post a lot what we eat over there!

I'm not sure, but it seems to me that Krakow is still the capital of Poland in the legal sense. Why do I think so? Although King Sigismund III Vasa moved with his court to Warsaw, he never made it the capital of Poland. In documents, Warsaw was consistently referred to as his majesty's residential city, not the capital of Poland. And it was probably for this reason that until August III the coronations of the kings of Poland were held in Wawel Cathedral in Krakow. The king could reside wherever he wanted, but the coronation had to be in the capital.
@JayandKarolina7 ай бұрын
This is very interesting 😊 Somehow Kraków has this more cultural atmosphere around and is richer in history whereas Warsaw is way modern now with a lot of HQs from international companies!

Och Karolina, you were walking through the Market Square and there was "hejnał" in the background and you did not say a word about it!! You could also say some more words about the Kazimierz district,, about its history, show the Jewish cemetery, perhaps go to the restaurants in Szeroka Street, serviing great Jewish food. Cracow is a magical place, I know it is difficult to show everything but still...Going away from tourist traps would be a blessing. And whiile being in Sukiennice, the visit to one of the oldest cafes, Noworolski is a must. And Jama Michalikowa? You missed all the jewels but went to the banal cafes and mediocre restaurants. What a pity!

Yes, you're right - the "bugle call" did ring exactly at 6:42 - so I could have emphasised it a bit more :) Krakow is a really interesting city and to cover all the things that interest most people we would have to spend several days - we are still a growing channel, so we can't always afford as much time as needed, but I hope we showed the essence of the city :) Thank you for all your suggestions! 9.54 The toilets now you have to pay for so I never use them. I like Krakow but it was nicer before in 1985 when I first went there. Today, as you showed here, it is so touristy with people hassling you the whole time with either expeditions going to see striptease or other visits, everybody just wants to sell you something. It was a much more natural working town forty years ago with Nowa Huta not so far away. I always prefer the old Poland with the Syrenka motor car and when they sold plastic records-remember those round plastic records with a hole in the middle?! I could buy Lady Punk, Manam, Baam and Budka Suflera to mention just a few famous Polish pop groups. Zapiekanka was sold everywhere on almost every street. I find the whole town rather slick nowadays and so expensive as well. It was a shame that you did not pick a nice bar mleczny called Bar Mleczny Pod Temida, the food is really good and I am sure you could have filmed as well. You were very near to this bar mleczny, in fact, you passed it on your way to the Wawel castle and it is also a bar mleczny that was once frequented by Michael Portillo on one of his train journeys. As far as making films in private areas go, yes, it is a shame that you could not film but I suppose on the other hand, do people want to be unpaid film extras in your videos? You are traveling and making films to earn money so I see both sides of the argument, you are a commercial business using the locals for free.
@JayandKarolina7 ай бұрын
Very insightful! Thank you 🙏 I completely get your point with how nice probably things were couple of years/decades back but I cannot really compare it! Filming-wise, it’s quite difficult for us to find a sweet spot because some people love the camera, the others hate so we really need to adjust to the situation - which is okay because it’s not something super common to vlog in public!
