This is one of the BEST video of Singapore I've seen. The places you've gone to take a walk at Raffles Place, walk along the marina bay and Singapore River, visit the Apple Store, eating Ya Kun Kaya toast and Indian food are among the BEST things to do. Although I prefer to walk there or cycle during the mornings or evenings. 😂 Just a comment to your question, the chinese, malay, indians and other races, regardless of religions, we all treat one another with respect when we work or interact. Our best friends may be chinese, indian or malay or any race. My teenage daughter went for her school trip in Sarawak Malaysia and she could share room and bed with her 2 best friends, both girls from another race and they looked out for one another.

Thank you so much 😍 We wanted to show more Singapore from its best perspective but not only going to most touristy places but also show how different cultures intertwine and luckily enough we could have had some conversations with the locals ❤️ It’s truly impressive that there’s no signs of racism or discrimination of any sorts - these days it’s pretty rare to find people of different backgrounds being so tolerant 🙏 The younger generation (like your daughter) is the biggest proof of the undergoing process of sharing acceptance!

Hi I don't think the Yakun auntie was rude. Singapore is having a shortage of workers and many people do not want to work in the F&B sector because of the long hours and stress. I saw from your video 2 aunties manning the shop and there was a long queue out there. The aunties have no time for small talks (haha). YaKun service is generally very good and I have a very good opinion about this company. I heard from one of the YaKun aunties that the bosses in YaKun are very nice people and I personally have spoken to the big boss while he was in one of his outlets. Very humble and nice guy. The founder of the company was a man named Ya Kun and i have ordered from his hawker stall before (that was before his children took over and YaKun became big in Singapore and around the region). You just have to yell your order while he was busy preparing the toast and coffee and he would just glance at you quickly. Without fail, the order would come out CORRECTLY. He had a photographic memory. BTW I am Singaporean.

Hi karolina & Jayesh, Kaya toast is great, but can be a little sweet, so it’s great to wash it down with some unsweetened Tea or coffee . But probably he best breakfast I’ve had in Singapore was Pandan pancakes at Chye Seng Huat Hardware, at Lavender . If it’s not the best for you, then definitely the most exotic pancakes you can have when in Singapore. Just ask for the Gula Melaka syrup to placed on the side, and not on the pancakes themselves, so you can sweeten the pancakes accordingly to your taste !

One thing abt SG that you will find very fascinating in overall from your experience here is the discipline and not so much the word that people tends to use "Controlling". In the past, those laws "No littering", "No Smoking here", are very prevalent and strictly enforced to the point, yr neighbour will rat you out for attempting to litter so you lose money. Nowadays, this rules are not strictly enforced, if you travel out past the city area and wander around the HBD void decks, you be surprise to see some people still litter even under a "No Littering" sign. Those are but a one-in-a thousand encounters, because those rules are taught to us from our parents who were disciplined by those rules. And the newer generations(majority) learned these good habits. These good habits are also constantly reinforced by our teachers, by our social studies, constantly to remind us, the city we lived today is shaped by our hands. The government can make the rules, but its really up to the people to enforce it.
@JayandKarolina10 ай бұрын
It seems like the culture imprinted on people this behaviour so much not to litter that for everyone it’s just a natural thing to follow 🙏 It’s the biggest sign how aware is the society about the environment as well!

Karolina really does her research well! On rojak, it has a Malay origin. But like everything in Singapore, each community does its own take on any particular dish. So this was a Chinese version of rojak. The dressing is made of shrimp paste, tamarind, sugar and other stuff/spices. The thing that locals sometimes translate as "turnip" is known as Jicama or Yam Bean to Westerners. Locals would know it as Bang Kuang. Sometimes a completely different dish is may also be known as Rojak or Indian Rojak or Pasembur. It is made by the Indian community in Singapore/Malaysia. It is mixed assortment of savoury fritters served with a sweet potato based sauce. Also a fantastic dish that any visitor should try.

Hi guys, welcome back to our Little Red Dot. Interesting you mentioned about multiculturism at the beginning and then ended the video with Rojak. Indeed, our SG society is like an Indian Rojak where every individual ingredient retains its flavour and uniqueness and yet when combined together creates a unique well blended flavour. I believe our multi cultural, multi lingua, multi racial, multi religious society is the most important factor that underpins Singapore's success and we all value it very much. It is and will always be a Work In Progress.

If you didnt ask for unsweetened, it will be with sugar. There are many other great chicken rice options with shorter queue and cheaper than Tian Tian. Ah Tai is open by the former head chef from Tian Tian, it is better than Tian Tian in recent years hands down. Also most Chinese Rojak contains shrimp paste and is definitely not vegetarian for most places.

Great video, what camera did you use on this video, and were you using a gimbal or external mic?

Are there stray cats in SG? I have ailurophobia(fear of cats) that's why I panic whenever there are cats specially in enclosed places.

There wasn’t pretty much any cats or dogs on the streets - compared to other SE Asian countries it was pretty safe I would say!

To all non-SG citizens. There are plenty of cameras around however no body has been caught littering via cctv 😂 . The streets are clean as a result of decades of education and enforcements by NEA (National Environment Agency) officers in civilian outfits.

Great to know haha but most importantly the cameras are providing safety for everyone 🙌

in the old days, my mom would also add deep fried scallions with a smite of scallion oil, to the eggs ... these days, harder to find deep dried scallions/oil ... too much work to make ...

Majority of the workers you find in large scale businesses like the airports or public bus companies actually comprise of foreign workers, such as from Malaysia, Philippines and China because just the local talent alone isn’t enough to fulfil the manpower it requires

There's no need to dip the kaya toast into the egg. You can dip plain toast into the egg, or slurp down the egg itself.

New subscriber here! My husband & I enjoyed your video. Very good showing so much in one video! Love that you tell all the prices. That's a lot of work 😅🎉 while traveling around SEAsia did you always have an onward ticket for travel & what countries asked you? Wondering if you go on a whim or do you both plan out months in advance where to go next? 😊
@JayandKarolina9 ай бұрын
Awesome! Thanks for watching! We try to show you as much authentic experiences as possible so showing the prices or interactions is key to our filming approach 😄 What we normally do is we plan the countries we want to visit and then make the order depending on the weather, connections and location --> not all but some of the SEA countries required the proof of the onward travel but for us booking it a month or two in advance was just anyways easier to handle all the formalities 😅

The CCTVs have more of a deterrent purpose, are more for people who committed a crime and police need to look into footages for clarity and for evidence. On an everyday basis when nothing happens, the authorities are not so free as to be constantly monitoring the public. How I know? Ghehehe, because I've done some really naughty things in front of those at night when few people are around and I've not been called up for questioning. 🤭🤣 Going to 7-11 for bottled drinks and other stuff is the last place I'd go. Of all the supermarts and convenience stores in Singapore, it's the most expensive. Our go-to place more likely to be NTUC Fairprice, Cheers, Giant etc.
@JayandKarolina11 ай бұрын
Haha it’s interesting but in the same time a bit scary 😂 Yeah, the drinks are not the cheapest in the CVCs but in the city centre there’s lack of bóg supermarkets…
