Something that doesn’t always come up. The Pinnacle at Duxton is a public housing estate. Unlike public housing elsewhere in the world, public housing in Singapore is desirable and a unit at the Pinnacle could go for over a million dollars. Almost 80% of Singapore live in public housing. Ownership is restricted to citizens and permanent residents.

Yam is actually also called Taro. Singaporeans use Yam and Taro interchangeably to refer to the same thing. For the wanton noodles, the green chilli is not jalapeno. It is just pickled green chilli that has a sour spicy taste.

The interactions with the locals, especially the Hawker Center food stall owners...in a few of your videos...are so authentic. Our Singaporeans Uncles and Aunties...are so friendly, welcoming, and can even respond very well in English. The ability to speak English by our hardworking Uncles and Aunties at the Hawker Center may not have been very prevalent in the past 10 or 20 years ago. Its heart warming that Singapore now from many walks of life is interacting very well with tourists

@@JayandKarolina yeah.....u r most welcome for more trips. Many says Singapore is a new baby country with only about 58 years of independence and there not much of a history or cultures. I fully agree compared to many other big brother countries. However, Singapore has its uniqueness and characteristics of things, people, history and own culture too. What makes Singapore today can be traced back to 1819, when found by Sir Stamdford from UK......therefore, our history is one that made up by diverse immigrants...which is similar to US...who is also an immigrant society and country. Have fun and all the best to your future trips in other countries.🤗🙏🙏

I've watched 2 of your videos and noticed that on 2 different occasions, you've asked for no added sugar to sugar cane juice. I can't speak for the rest of Southeast Asia, but in Singapore and Malaysia, no sugar is added to what is already a fairly sweet drink. In fact, in this video, you would have noticed that the lady asked if you would like to add some lemon. It comes at an extra cost, but the acidity is meant to balance the sweetness.

Nice video and both are so friendly that the wanton noodle stall owner love you so much. Btw for the chwee kueh, it will be easier to eat with a fork or a spoon but in sg mostly they give small stick and sometime a smaller toothpick. Next time if you are back in sg(welcome back again anytime), use two sticks instead of one to scoop the cai pok(raddish) and put on top of the cut(using the stick to cut) smaller pieces of the chwee kueh. Then use two sticks and pick up the chwee kueh like a mini chopstick or just poke it to pick it up. It will be easier. 🙂

When you order fresh sugarcane drinks that is freshly squeezed. It has already all the natural sweetness that comes naturally with it. You don’t need to say no added sugar. I think it is because you have been brainwashed with added sugar in your home country and western countries. I guess You never knew how good it is to have all natural fruit sweetness without artificial stimulated products that deceived your taste buds. In a hot and humid country like Singapore, what is priority is to quench your thirst and cool down whenever you can. Like add ice and maybe add lemons or lime to enrich your palate and drink experience.

Nice videos exploring the local places and trying local snacks! Please don't place the utensils directly on the tray as it is not hygienic. We usually use 2 wooden sticks like a chopsticks to eat the chee kueh. In Asia we use the spoon to scoop and eat the rice. Fork to help to push onto the spoon :D Not everything is made from glutinous rice hahahaha! Rice flour and glutinous rice flour gives very different textures. As you have tasted in the videos :) Glutinous rice gives a chewy texture ala mochi. The purple filling is mashed yam/taro most likely with some coconut milk. Tea in general refers to milk tea, i.e. black ceylon tea with condensed milk. Tea without milk and sugar is teh O kosong LOL "O" means no milk. Char Siew in general is made from pork, so we just call it char siew. That red is just colouring.

Did you guys do any research at all? Singapore is one of the biggest ports IN THE WORLD. The rooftop views are so much better at sunset & night. And the view at MBS is considered "premium" because well, it's really impressive

I was surprised that the chui kueh seller told you the topping is ‘porridge’🙃 It should be ‘preserved radish’. Better to eat the chui kueh with a fork .

The brown stuff on the Chwee Kway is preserved radish, not porridge. I don't know what it is with tourists, they tend to visit the most expensive parts of Singapore. Next time, should try visiting the heartlands. Everything is much cheaper than CBD and Orchard. Even Bugis is considered to be more expensive than the heartlands, definitely not budget friendly.

So glad u made an effort to try so many local dishes since day 1 in Singapore. However will like to point out an action I spotted in the video at 32.00 - the chopsticks was poke into the noddles. No offense Tis is a no no for Chinese table manners. Chinese only do Tis when they made offering to the dead. U can jus place the chop stickers across the bowl. Really enjoy watching yr video.

It's actually "char siew" & yes in sg, it's either hot or wet rainy 😅... The thing on the rice cakes are preserved radish bits which uncle is not good in English that's why the initial misinformation 😅... I can see you have done good homework on the go-to places in SG... Ang ku kuehs are made of glutinous rice flour which is why they are sticky, named due to the prints that looks like back of a turtle.
