Finally moved onto the Radar converter boxes, went with 32 ultra Nyquist paired with a NTP 256 core via Dante, works great👍

Awesome demo! So running the Audinate 2x2 dongle and Dante Controller, you eliminate the need to also run Audinate's DVS on your Mac, which should lower latency from your lunchbox to your DAW of choice. One question - I thought the second ethernet port on the Radar box (or any Dante device with two ethernet ports) is for redundancy only, so you shouldn't need that connection from the Radar to your Mac? Or am I totally wrong? I'm guessing next step would be to replace the Audinate dongle with like an RME Digiface Dante, or one of the PCIe-R cards to get the full 16 channels in and out....would be interesting to see latency on all 16 channels running straight into Mac via DVS, vs. going 16 channels via Digiface/PCIe-R. Or - maybe even just Audinate 2x2 dongle vs. DVS for latency would be interesting as well.

Cool ,I use a radar studio..with a api 2448 sounds awesome,thought about moving to the convertor box,but my system is so rock solid,it is hard for me to justify it ,as of now.

Rad! I originally had a 24, then moved to the Studio, now I am in love with the box because I can literally take it anywhere.

@@JayFlemingMusic This may be a dumb question, but I have an older Radar 24, if I get the converter box and pop in the cards out of the Radar, am I gonna get that same sound? Is there anything going on inside a Radar doing some magic that I would lose with the converter box, or are the analog cards where the "magic" is??

Hey Rich, The cards is where the magic happens! I don't hear any difference at all.

My main concern would be latency, while tracking a live band,it is hard to beat radar,hdx would work ,but costly.

From my experience, the dongle mentioned is best for 2 bus analog processing and punching in. Unless you were full mixing and dumping down to stereo "pre-conversion: Full band utilizing the "full availability" in the RADAR box or several boxes working together, would be accomplished via another solution. Video coming soon!

Jay ,do you miss your radar studio? Iz radar would take mine on a trade ,but the quote was low ,did you sell your radar studio privately?
@JayFlemingMusic

Hey John! Honestly.... I did. I am extremely happy with the Converter box. I can literally take it with me and have the same stunning sound. I did sell it to another engineer privately. Are you considering moving to the Converter Chasis?

Which converter cards did you get?
@JayFlemingMusic

Ultra NYQ, and classic 96. I was using the classic 48k for years.

Do your run both cards at 48k? Do you use both cards at the same time? Do you use either card for monitoring?
@JayFlemingMusic
@JayFlemingMusic 2 жыл бұрын
@@darrylweller6143 Darryl, Currently I use one card at a time, only because that is sufficient for what I do. With the Avio adapter mentioned, it will only record up to 48k. Which honestly is crazy good sound quality anyway . I monitor off of whichever card I am using. I have mismatched cards in this box which would cause trouble if I were to use all 16 channels together in a project because the cards have different latency characteristics. You would want to load it with a matching set of cards if you were going to use anything over 8 channels.

And use a different connection solution to accomplish that. This was just a quick, affordable, dead easy way to connect. I most do overdubs so I don't need high channel count in my current work flow.

When do you choose to use the classic over the nyquist or vice verse? So you only use one or the other card in a song?
