The dancer is the fab actor John Travolta., You may know him from Pulp Fiction and it's a clip from the film Saturday Night Fever...pretty sure you'd love it, it's iconic now and was huge when it came out...I was 17 when the film was released...so when you see all us 'oldies' milling about and not give us a second glance, just remember that it was our generation that was getting down to disco, prog rock, punk, goth etc and it's still in our souls, even if some of us now limp with arthritis, inside our heads we are still dancing! 😊👍🇬🇧

I am 59 Years old. I graduated High school in 1982. I am so glad I grew up in the 70's and 80's during a Golden Age of Music. There were so many great songs and artists from all genres. The artists would cross genres and also write songs for each other and perform together. EWe also had the oldies station that played great music from the 50; s and 60's. To answer some of your questions I danced to this song at school dances and parties. It was also played at the skating rink. everyone would get on the dancefloor, It was all about the music and having fun.

Most people young and old enjoyed this Disco era. Only the narrow minded people hated it. It was diversity in a excellent way. Barry was not a ladies man like that. Bee Gees were not womanizers, not perfect, but not those type of men per se. In general, people dressed for dancing and were fresh; appearance mattered. Disco kept us in good shape, not too many overweight individuals. Newly processed foods cause weight gain for future generations, and being couch potatoes, staying indoors, just idleness and playing and watching video games did not help physically and mentally. Lots of fun house parties too, even the elders could disco with ease. lol

The BeeGees are originally from England/Australia. The one who sings so high is Barry Gibb and he was the oldest brother. He is also the only surviving brother. The others have all passed. They broke into the music scene in the 60s. They went 'viral' in the 70s and became the voice of Disco. I can't count how many hours I danced to their music. That was my high school years. They provided the soundtrack for the movie 'Saturday Night Fever'. They have also written music for a large contingent of other singers and bands. Very talented.

The Bee Gees had this album almost finished when the producer for this movie came to them about writing songs for it. What you are watching it’s the original music video (MTV was where you watch the latest music video and every new song had one. It was how hits were made back I the day) If you watch this video closely you’ll notice their young brother Andy Gibb who had his own hit records/songs is singing with them. From what I remember this happened right before Andy died. The dancing of John Travolta is from the movie and was part of the original music video. During the 70’s here in America, we had dance clubs or discos (they were called bars) with the most famous in New York City was Studio 54. All the celebrities went but it was a scandalous place at the end. Anyway trying to dance like they did on the movie was a thing. My favorite was a line dance of sorts called the hussle and you didn’t need a partner to dance it. 😊you should be dancing 🕺 yay 🎶
