Yeah, they were rubbing it in on the company that blew them off (CBS Records) partly because they (CBS) said their sound was too derivative of other bands ("You ain't bad but we've heard it all before"), so Sugarloaf purposely threw in as many riffs from other bands into this song as they could fit.

By the way, in 1974 it was illegal for an individual to own a telephone. This caused the band some trouble as they used the touch-tone telephone in the song and toured with it. Kids today are shocked at the way things used to be before the telephone monopoly was disbanded by the government. Olson Electronics got in big trouble with the law when they sold a bunch of telephones in “junk boxes”. I was one of the buyers of them. It was truly a different era.

They actually allude to several songs by several bands in this song as a sarcastic joke aimed at the company that blew them off (CBS Records). CBS felt they were too derivative of other bands ("You ain't bad but we've heard it all before") so Sugarloaf was purposely rubbing it in by including riffs from several other bands throughout this song, and by giving away the guy at CBS's actual direct phone number in the touch tone dialing sequence at the beginning. The touch tone number dialed at the end of the song is noticeably different from the first because it was the number for the White House main switchboard in DC.
