Carburetor Cleaning FAILURES - Part 2

Well here we are with the results of the 6 day test and let me tell you, they aren't good! If the 24 hour results give any indication of what were about to see, then this could get really ugly really quick!

Many decades ago, we had a 5 gallon bucket from Bendix. This stuff was a 2 part liquid, a really aggressive cleaner on the bottom covered by a water soluble top layer. This stuff got the carbs squeaky clean!

Great experiment! Just confirmed my thoughts.... I'll stick too the strong solvent based mix I use and stay far away from the acid and caustic stuff for sure. Your sacrifice has not been done in vain 😂

I use 1/2 water and original pine sol no more than 24 hours. Works great for me on old Q-Jets.

I do have to spay them with something as soon as I rinse them off . They dry out guick.

That's just wild. A real spread in the results. Do the 90 day challenge? Hahahaha. Joking aside, this video set is a great lesson for DIY beginners to show how "less is more" and not leaving parts sitting in the cleaners, the importance of rinsing. Yeah, that was a really good summary.

I considered leaving the super clean carb in for a few months. 😂 I kept that one and could continue the torture. We’ll see! 😆 Hopefully that was useful info for someone before tackling a cleaning job. Less is more is very accurate! Cheers brother!

What I would really like to see is how these chemicals would do in a ultrasonic cleaner and diluted with water like they are intended to be, especially the pine sol and simple green.

@@alicenfred already used the simple green. If you have super dirty items you’re trying to clean it works pretty well. On delicate aluminum carburetor parts it’s a little too aggressive. Pine sol I may test someday. I think it’s biggest positive is my shop will smell nice for a little while.

The reason purple does that is sodium hydroxide.... Read the ingredients....
