This is the third time I have watched this video and each time I watch it I learn more about how to fish the Carolina Rig. Mark does a great job of explaining how to rig and use it for the best results. To be honest, I have used it with mixed results, mainly because I have been fishing it too fast and am guilty of using too big of a hook, when I didn't need to. After watching this video for the 3rd time I can 't wait to put his suggestions to work this fishing season.

Great instructional video one of the best I've seen on Carolina fishing. This man really knows his business I learned a lot watching this, there was some great explanations of what and why to do things while Carolina fishing. Thanks Mark ‼️
@mch.l.trecords9169 Жыл бұрын
That's why when you use braid on a Carolina rig you use at least a 6 ft long leader tied directly to the braided line and then you add the weight, then the bead, then a swivel, then a 1 ft to 2 ft secondary leader line to the other end of that swivel, then you add your hook. I use braided line with a monofilament leader and I use a Carolina rig on it and I've been fishing for 25 years and never had a problem with the braided line as long as I use at least a 6 ft long leader. That being said 4 strand braid tends to be more abrasion resistant than 8 strand braid. And this is because 4 strand braid is made out of 4 thick strands of fiber woven together whereas 8 strand braid is made out of 8 very thin strands of fiber wolven together so you can pull off a Carolina rig with braid you just have to do it properly.

Good video. Here's a good C-rig tip if you're going to be fishing rocks. Buy Bass casting sinkers and cut the wire line ties off. Use them like you would the egg sinker with the small end first. They get hung up way less than egg sinkers do in rocks.

Now fellow fishermen this is what it is this host is a real fisherman I,ve seen him explaining with a spinning and a bait caster most on here is always talking about a damn baitcaster they Don't realize every heat on here don't want to here are see the host only dealing with one fishing set up I do both if I see you don't bring both into play then I don't get into your channel this host I will watch for he is Omni fisherman baitcasters are not the only reels to take fish matter of fact I,am a spinner guy but I own and use 4 baitcasters but when everything is on the line my spinners come first thank guy for this video keep up the good classes

Been using for 30 years on Arkansas lakes. Should have shown how easy it is to throw a 7 foot leader. Using the whip action like fly fishing, letting the weight do most of the work when casting. Great lesson on Carolina rig.

Pablo Cruz When a fish picks up a Carolina rig versus a split shot, the weight stays on the bottom they don't feel the weight as easily.

@timberhunter9228 жыл бұрын
Yes, I catch fish on the Carolina rig in all seasons. Shallow/deep, cold or warm water. It can work in shallow grass and deep structure. Very versatile by changing weight and leader lengths, as well as adjusting retrieve speed to your conditions.

what brand flouracarbon do you use?
@cjr44975 жыл бұрын
i think he is trolling Aaron Martins by using all those palomar knots with fluorocarbon, LOL. Another tip is to buy egg weights in the saltwater isle of your local store if it has one. they are sometimes half the price! I like the pre-rigged carolina weights more than anything now. They seem to get hung less on stumps. Also, a stiff rod with a fairly stiff tip helps a ton on stump filled lakes. Falcon used to make the "Lizard Dragger" specifically for Lake Fork, Toledo Bend, and Rayburn. It was fantastic. Too soft of a tip lets your line dig into the wood as you drag your weight over it getting hung more often.

Is Carolina rig suitable for bank fishing?
@DrZiggyzoo17 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! If you know the lake well enough, you can find some good spots to throw it and probably have good luck. I've rarely let bank fishing deter me from using/trying other methods. The only thing I don't do much from the bank is run crankbaits. If I use a crank from the bank, it's a pretty shallow running crank.
@bobdashiell67147 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply! I'll try this method this year. I usually fish Texas rig.
@BboyHalu7 жыл бұрын
Yes! High possibility of getting stuck depending on the area But the thing I like about fishing it from shore is that it helps you determine depth as well as the bottom
@Robjmar77 жыл бұрын
Are you talking Flouracarbon for your "line" or "leader". You said line! Why not monofilament line with flouracarbon leader?
@MrRourk7 жыл бұрын
RS Marett Fluor main. the main line has to sink fast. mono leader to help float the hook up to fish feeding levels.
@nathandane15727 жыл бұрын
RS Marett flourocarbon has less stretch for a better hook set.
@lukkyluciano7 жыл бұрын
both, he says it at 9:15.
@cjr44977 жыл бұрын
the point of the rig is to "float" the lure behind the leader. fluoro sinks and kills this action. you wan't your bait to suspend and then fall as slowly as possible as you drag it along. mono works better for this.
@frankaylwardjr49867 жыл бұрын
Appreciate you spreading the seed of knowledge, you got the perfect hillbilly accent for these videos lol. Even if it weren't gold that accent would convince half of your viewers.
@bobbybass19447 жыл бұрын
Why don't you use a carolina keeper instead of a swivel
@amy27876 жыл бұрын
Bobby Fresh I don't use them because they slip when they get hung up and when they slip they burn the line.
@danebrewer106 жыл бұрын
I know it's way different, but I reckon this would be fantastic for fishing for flat fish in salt water from the beach, twitching a worm soft plastic back to shore.....

Good video lots of good information in it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hWPKmYOsoNSIf9U is a link to Watch Cole's Carolina rig shortcut video a tutorial for a homemade Carolina rig short cut. This type of shortcut solves three of the problems with the c-rig 1. Stops the sliding up and down the line that damages the line. 2. stops the fish from pulling the line through the sinker creating slack when you hook set 3. uses worm sinkers that don't get hung up as much as the barrel sinkers...
