Yea, I just started playing with it. I tell u what. Elaztec baits are amazing on them, just pay attention to leader length because your bait will float up and then dive when u reel it.

At the age of 55, I have never used this because of negative comments from other fishermen. I have used the infamous Texas rig and newer Toyko rig. I am ordering the Regional subscription for Indiana and will try the Carolina rig. Thanks for these tips.

I’ve been using a C-rig forever. A four foot leader is my go to, but I will step up to six feet on occasion. A lure many don’t think of is a fluke style lure. Sometimes it will catch anything that swims. Love the videos, keep them coming. Tight lines and Godspeed
@Woefman911 Жыл бұрын
4 ft or more how the heck do you cast it with accuracy??

Good stuff on the C-Rig. Also to eliminate knot damage from the weight there are Carolina pre-rigs available… just saying…
@ZZ430T562 жыл бұрын
Great Vid. I like to use braid to the swivel (knot won't break, better feel, less stretch). Then a mono leader (mono floats better than flouro). Z-man elastek baits float good too. Hook a weedless light wire Wacky hook into the nose of a lizard. Or a lil French Fry with a lighter rig.
@eddiestephens8682 жыл бұрын
Awesome video Tyler. I actually use the bobber stopper. I will start bending my hook out slightly though. I do that with my jigs don’t know why I haven’t done it with the C-rig. Thanks.
@moremut11 ай бұрын
Got a couple of questions for you first what type of leader do you have on there? Is it mono second have you ever used a mini Carolina rig to try to catch panfish with lighter hook lighter weight?
@hikerdan70572 жыл бұрын
Great video on how to fish the C Rig. Especially the bobber stop tip to protect the knot. Question ❓ when you talked leader length...were you referring to moving the weight up away from the lure by sliding up the bobber stop or do you keep the bait pegged ❓leader length distance being from hook to the swivel.

What I like to do sometimes, is to attach the sinker to a small leader. So I got a swivel running on the main line, and to that swivel I attach a leader and a egg sinker. Makes the bait swim a bit higher and the fish don't feel the weight at all if they are finicky. Not sure if this techically still qualifies as carolina rig, but I use it in the same situations as the C-Rig. Sometimes the standard c-rig is better though.

Sup Tyler. Another great video. Will use that bobber stopper tip. I use longer leader, even with drop shot I use longer leader between weight and hook. Great job live with Rick other night, gave a shout out to channel in chat if didn't see lol. Ty tc

Try using a Gambler Rattle weight . Bobber stop first to keep weight within an inch of bead , then gambler weight , then bead , then metal clacker with counter bore for avoiding knot . Works great !
@Jcestanley2 жыл бұрын
I always put a bobberstop on mine but did away with the bead entirely…I do put a clacker on it but it’s just for the weight. It’s funny cuz I have some of the same zman baits to try out with my crig

Awesome video. I’m new to using this technique. But I fish primarily out of a kayak and due tournaments. Was wondering if there is a disadvantage to using braid as my main line? And maybe fluoro or mono leader. Just trying to use one rod for multiple techniques, it is a 7’2” heavy fast action rod from yakrods
@JAMESlock1911 Жыл бұрын
I think braid is great as a main line with mono as a leader.

One more tip is to use mono on the leader. It adds that last little touch of buoyancy to the whole rig.

Heads up: the tungsten weight will break glass beads. Try using 2 beads or switch to plastic or brass weight with clacker.
@stevencochran42742 жыл бұрын
I like silicone beads against knot or a glass with center hole big enough it goes over knot so knot isn’t hit by bead but goes inside bead and bead hits swivel … bobber stop cool tho most everyone has them n tackle

Lol the reason folks always say the bead protects the knot, is because using the correct bead, with the right hole size, it will “stick” to your knot during the cast, keeping it covered up and protected from the slapping weight. I prefer 1/4” beads from the crafts dept. They have a smaller drill opening. This idea was lost over the years with all the hype of the bead creating a “clicking” sound, something we now know was overrated. Use a bead that sticks to the knot!

this year i'am switching to fishing without tying any leader which i think weakened the line capabilities especially with moving bait that fish aren't going to see that line in a moving action and my finesse fishing will be done with clear braid or floro no need for a leaders

When they’re on a Carolina rig they’re on it hard. Never use braid, it will gray up so bad dragging on the bottom. Use 15-20# main line. Flouro or mono

Hey Tyler, why not just hook the weight up like you would for a hook on a dropshot, basically putting the weight for a carolina where the hook would go on a dropshot? It seems to me that this would avoid these knots worries you're talking about.

I disagree with longer leaders get more bites. I have never gotten a bite with one over 2’. I use a 1’ to 1-1/2’ leader. I have used up to 6’ leaders. I get a few bites on 2-3’ leaders but about 1 1/2’ leader I get more bites. It may be just me. Carolina rig is supposed to be 3’-7’ leaders but I have caught few to no fish that way

I Pond fish primarily with a C rig or wacky, the biggest issue i have with the C rig is break offs above the not, I generally run 2 steel weights with a bobber stop to protect the not, but have recently found the line between the 2 weights (or bead and weigh, same issue) gets nicked up, I now find myself re-tying every 10-15 casts. I found this when a fish broke me off, and i caught that fish a few cast later and recovered my lure and line with the swivel attached and about 3/8" of line broke kinda strangely. so I started inspecting, I use Fluorocarbon usually 20 lb main with 15 lb leader, the 20 lb would get long knicks, you can peel the line like a banana. Any tips to help prevent this, or do I just need to re-tie a lot?
@_chrisbuzz2 жыл бұрын
Just use braid for your main line. They won't see it with the Carolina rig anyway
@schlz692 жыл бұрын
@@_chrisbuzz I would, but, braid backlashes often are no return. I pond fish a lot with high weeds and tree branches, tick a branch and birds nest ensues, at least with floro it pulls out most of the time, maybe I can do a short section of braid for the sinkers
