It’s a great technique!

Great tips! Two things I was told when learning this technique: 1) if not getting hung up, it's not in the right spot; and 2) the bite often feels like you snagged a wet wash cloth. Tight lines out there!
@funkymojo1112 жыл бұрын
Bank fishermen: not the technique to use if you have a rock or brush or tree heavy lake/pond or river bottom. You will snag a lot and break off many of times. This is a great technique in off-shore fishing from a boat because less break offs.

If you're getting hung up a lot go to a lighter bullet weight and peg it so it doesn't slide.

My local pond is stump/snag heaven and i use a 5 inch leader 5 lb floro and 10 lb leader rigged weedless and havent broke off . Fished in areas where i lost crank baits and jigs
@Garminrules Жыл бұрын
Switch main line to 50lb braid lot easier to pull out of rocks, use mono leader, floats better, and scale down to 1/0 hook...lighter keeps bait up off bottom....caught plenty 6lb+ w 1/0 hook...I use clackers instead of beads....been using C rig for 40 years , its my money bait.

I'm a newbie kayak fisherman and appreciate your tips. I prefer to use a baitcaster whenever possible, but for the Carolina rig I started using a spinning reel only. I was having problems with backlashs due to the helicopter like flight pattern of the Carolina rig causing line speed surges. Love the Carolina rig and it's versatility for different hook and plastics setups. I caught my pb crappie with a Carolina rigged plastic craw on a 2/0 ewg earlier this summer.

I try using a shorter leader when it helicopters!
@alexfamie52552 жыл бұрын
Not telling you how to tune your reel, but I was shown how to use a BC by tightening the brake all the way and slowly open the break until you feel comfortable. To this day, I'm amazed that I don't get more lashes when casting into the wind. Just a lil tiny increase and what a world of difference casting. Hope this helps you out with the bird nesting issue. Tight lines brother!🎣

One thing to remember when using this technique is always change positions because fish will reposition especially when it’s windy and you will think oh I guess I fished the school out and they are still there 😮💪

Good stuff Nathan. Unfortunately, I will never be a fan of the Carolina Rig as long as the Ned Rig, specifically the ZMan Finesse TRD and Big TRD. If I'm gonna invest time dragging something, it's gonna be one of those two. Glad the CR works for you, at my lakes it just seemed to get hung up too often. Plus, the ZMan stuff stands up. It's easier for the bass to inhale and I think it bothers them more! Tight lines.

I would think a Cari with a Senko rigged wacky should be a killer combo. I don't fish this rig but am willing to start. I'm thinking that if I use a bob stop > bullet > clacker bead> bob stop> I can control the length of the rig and then when I move into shallower cover/exposed structure type situations I can just slide everything down into a Texas rig and pitch. thid weight the weight could either slide or I can peg for punching. Thoughts on this?? (sounds a bit like a Swiss Army Knife Rig! (yes, I just made that up))

we put the bead to protect the knot not for the knocking..we used egg sinkers cause for rocks pointed weight is for grass that why we used a football jig then when guy won bassmaster here everyone learned about it.cause of rocks the point of lead goes in cracks of rocks.I am old fisherman social media let all our tricks out of the bag for views.i never had less than top 5 finish in no tournment i ever fished i use to tell my mom guys on TV not got chance against me LMAO
@richardluzaderjr44152 жыл бұрын
We use clackers and beads for sound and glass wont protect your knot it will beat the crap out of it without a bobber stopper.. There are better options in grass nowadays than a c rig but on a hard bottom it is a solid option although I usually opt for an unpegged t rig unless I am in heavy current. In submerged grass during summer drop shot all the way with the rest of the year bladed jig. I've been fishing for 42 years and the c rig has never been a secret in my lifetime even when social media didnt exist or the internet for that matter lol although it does get overlooked as an option by many including myself at times. This video was spot on and great info to help people get started, well done! As for me, I'm getting geared up to start throwing swimbaits specially at night.

I've used a Carolina rig for over 40 yrs. Some have told me that using a bead is a waste of time. This always cracks me up. One of my most productive rigs happens to be using a 1/2 oz brass weight connected to a glass bead and tied directly to a swivel then the leader. Why this setup??? Glass and brass is extremely loud under water. I'll even use 2 beads if needed. Lead weights and plastic beads work good at times also. Weather & barometric pressure can change your approach. I don't use the c rig if I'm fishing from the bank. Unless its a deep impoundment & there's not a ton of hang ups. It's way better from a boat. I'm a fan of the Lanier rig. I fished lake Lanier in Georgia most of my younger days. That's a brass weight glass bead and worm hook tied in that order and a Zoom Finesse worm preferably on spinning tackle. Very deadly on spotted bass. Living in the Ozarks now it works great here for all kinds of bass. Bobber stops are used now for different reasons but that's about it. Thanks for sharing

Hey Nathan, why do you run a leader if you're running fluoro as your main line? I run my rig on a spinning rod spooled with fluoro. Thus, I don't run a leader. I just peg the egg weight 2 or 3 feet up. Reason being, I don't I have a leader knot on a swivel to protect so I don't feel I need a glass bead. Just want to understand to see if I'm screwing this up. lol Thanks! As always, love your videos!
@joshuajadolon35912 жыл бұрын
Flouro sinks. If you use a mono leader it will allow the bait to float above the bottom.
