Jay thought you might like to know, I got home tonight from the hospital… my son is in hospital with kidney disease… I was feeling a bit down after coming home to a empty home but seeing your show waiting for me cheered me up…. Just wanted you to know your show means a lot.

Two of my favorite things - camping in the cold and deep snow, and snowmobiling. I found out when I was a teen that the most important thing to remember when you're in these elements, is always staying dry. Of course the other thing is to always stay warm, although when I camped in the winter, I never had a stove, Having a small tent inside a bigger tent works very well, and so does building an igloo, which I did when I was still a kid, and surprisingly (or not) it's makes for a nice and cozy shelter, and they're quite easy to build if you use the right kind of snow.

It's AMAZING to me how no one ever bothers your tents/cabin or supplies. So nice to know you can trust others in that area. I can't think of anywhere else this would happen.

When the population density is as low as the NW Territories, I have to believe the crime rate is very low too. The only reason anyone would disturb the tent or the entire site that I can think of is if there was an emergency and I don’t think Jay would mind if that was the reason.

Texas is about 60% of the size of NWT and NWT has less than 45000 people living in it so there probably isn't really anyone around he needs to trust.

It kinda depends on where you are in the USA, some areas you can't leave anything or it'll be gone, and in other areas, you can set up a tent, leave a note, and come back and nothing will be gone, and maybe even you'll have extra wood people leaving.

I will apologize in advance for the length of this comment lol, but I've been meaning to say a few things and always forget or fall asleep watching your videos... and THAT is what this comment is about. I want to thank you. I originally started watching you because I grew up living in weather like this in the US. I live very near Canada and we get -20+F temps in the winter often so it was fun to watch what I'm familiar with. The sounds things make when it's that cold, etc. But, as someone who has been suffering with insomnia for years now, nothing was helping me fall asleep until I started watching your videos!! And that is a HUGE compliment to you! It's because they are so soothing. You keep everything so mellow and your voice is very soothing as well. I tend to watch the same episodes multiple times over because I missed the last half because I passed out and that is priceless to me. So, thank you. I appreciate you!

I love that you now basically have 3 "vacation" spots to enjoy. Each one has its own character and charm and it is so cool to watch you get out and use them. I think my favorite is the cabin (I love the DIY stuff) but all of them are great. Thanks for another great video.

Jay, you have inspired me to learn more about Canada and, surprisingly, about myself. It is 34 degrees F (1.1 C) at my house this morning. There is a nice formula to convert F to C. Jay should make it required learning, so he doesn’t have to tell us. Now I know why I had never heard of Nunavut. Yellowknife is where Ice Road Truckers and similar shows were made. I knew my grandfather was involved in the provincial government of Alberta, but not that I would find him on Wikipedia with a nice picture. Most exciting to me is that I am a Canadian, too, because my mother was a Canadian citizen when I was born. I am just a little bit proud about that! I also learned that one can eat a meal that contains Brie cheese, mustard, catsup and live to tell about it.

Instead of butter to cook steak use Ghee, it has a higher smoke point. The tast is nutty. Ghee is a type of clarified butter. that's made from heating butter and allowing the liquid and milk portion to separate from the fat. You can buy it already made or make it.

Hey Jay, how about working together with Pelican sleighs to come up with the ultimate survival sleigh that tows behind the skidoo. It would be the sleigh that is used in case of emergency on the ice that you can survive in for 24 hours. It would have heat; communication and you can bury it with snow for warmth, sort of like an igloo effect. Just a thought, keep on doing your thing and cheers from da ROCK!
