Lol so you were taking the tent down and then you decided to put the tank back up wow this was the most interesting and funny video I've ever seen of you very interesting can't imagine that you were able to do that all by yourself cuz candles can be quite heavy when it's cold and damp and wet so shocking but interesting keep the videos coming you're so interesting and one thing I must say I am subscribed to others from Canada and you're the most adventurist and different but funny and much more entertaining I just love watching your videos so keep up the good work stay safe and I want more videos I love watching you you were like my entertainment / TV and that's for real keep them coming by the way I live in Southeastern Washington down by the Oregon border in the Tri-Cities area if you're familiar with that I grew up in Bonners Ferry Idaho so I know what the weather's like and I've been to actually I have a cousin that lives in Pincher Creek Alberta and I have a cousin that lives in Creston BC and I've been there so can it is an interesting country I love it

thanks so much for watching! I had a 10x12 for a couple years. It's a great tent and a perfect size. I like mine for when people come. But it's a monster and often wish I got the smaller one. Have a good winter!
@crazyhorsejohnny19747 жыл бұрын
jay legere Yeah I wanted one where I could have two cots and still have lots of room for a sitting and a cooking area. With my 10x12 it does the job but barely. I just wish I could put it up somewhere for the winter and go there for overnights or weekends. Take care Bud.

That was a pretty testy tent raising Jay. Good thing you’re young and still have the strength and rotator cuff to do the job on your own. Have a 12 x 14 Deluxe Wall tent from British Columbia and it was the largest I dared get to set up alone. Usually have 2 sons to help and we have enough room to get-r-done. When you raised the second side I was willing you to do the other middle support first for balance 😂 easy for me to say 😬

I have the same tent and set up. Absolutely love it. Great tent and good quality. I have had to set mine up on my own as well. Not fun. I bent one of my one inch conduit posts. Learned the hard way and had to cut a new one. Way easier with two people for sure. Awesome video. Keep it going.

Nice work Jay. I stumbled on this today looking to gain inspiration for the EXACT same endeavor. Tomorrow I am going to be putting up my 12x18 Montana Canvas internal frame. I've done it several times solo during warm weather, never in the winter.

Robert Ozarowicz that’s awesome. Are you doing it solo? Best of luck.
@robertozarowicz15017 жыл бұрын
Unless I can convince my wife to lend a hand, yes, it will be solo. The only difference is that we have a platform for it (we use them for a kids summer camp from June to Aug). Will have some serious shoveling to do though, we have 2-3 feet of snow on the ground.

In the military we would put the roof frame together only. Then place your canvass over that frame roof. Get your self inside and under the canvass and put each upright post in place along one side only. Then move to the other side buddy and do the same until all the uprights are in place. Thereafter adjust the canvass to suit your frame - can be done by one person. British Army trick.....hope it works

Hi Jay, I just joined your KZbin channel and I’m impressed with what you do. Please don’t let the negativity get to you mate, we see the good and bad in everyone. I was wondering though, if you could do a vlog on the layout of your alpine tent, mainly your sleeping kit and anything else to make it comfy in the snow climate. Even though I’m in Australia and it doesn’t get near as cold as that of Canada, I’m very curious about all tings alpine survival as I class it as extreme survival/living along with desert survival. Cheers mate

The best way ive found to diy a tent like that is to tie rope (long enough to throw over the frame and reach from the opposite side) then pull it up and over like you did with the fly. If you need help, the ratchet straps make a nice winch. Start by pulling the middle two then flip the edges over.
@VE3FAL1Fred7 жыл бұрын
Jay, Jay, Jay, wow..14x16, mine is 12x14 and no frame though other then ridgepoles in the middle ans bipod at the door and a single pole on the back wall. But my tent is pretty old. I leave mine up year round and only after one collapse of the tent did I learn to use poles inside. Glad to see you back at it my friend. Enjoy. Fred Thunder Bay, Ontario

I didn't read the comments below me but I myself had not put the stand up frames (the 4 left and right ) up until the tent was over the top and then shuffed them in the frame, lifting the canvas and frame up, first the left 4 and then the other side or other way round .. You see where I'm coming from? Edit, forget what I wrote, you mentioned it a second later yourselves lol! Clearly I need to learn and watch it all before commentating 😂 whoops 👌😎👊

just a suggestion but maybe put a little tape around each pole once they are in so they dont slip out. Great job though!!!
@glacierrrr7 жыл бұрын
Love the videos Jay. Just a suggestion... because I like knowing, what was the temp when you were preparing to go / arrived / set up etc... Most guys that do your type of video make sure they either mention or put the current temp/weather into their video. Adds that "wow he did that in -20" factor.. lol Especially for us much further south!
@jaylegere7 жыл бұрын
glacierrrr you are right. Great suggestion! It was -12 that day. Balmy!!
@drjohnwills6 жыл бұрын
When you set your mind to it you can do it . In my youth, in the army, I put up a GP large tent that was dropped and should have been put up before the snow fell. When I arrived I had to do it and took a good hour and a half in the snow and freezing. laugh about it now but not then. GP is about the same as you heavy canvas three poles down the middle with ridge poles connecting then about 8 poles down each side and 4 across the ends . Then install the heater and gave up with the troops arrived.

Next time, try unrolling it by balancing it on the top ridge. Works for me. Then unfold it out. Nice job tho!

Is that one of those Davis tents can you keep it up year round if you want too and nice job getting it up by your self I want A big tent to that way you can bring up your lazyboy and a 50" TV
@dsmith32397 жыл бұрын
Jay, next time remember to bring a roll of duct tape with you. That way you can tape the connections for the conduit and keep the connections from coming apart. I have put up the same tent and frame by myself many times and it is no big deal, especially of you tape the most important joints together. All the best.

@mdascoota42936 жыл бұрын
Hi Jay, so now its been a year since you first put up the tent all by yourself, did you meanwhile figure out the best way to do it? Looking at it from my warm couch, when you have placed the tent cloth over the topframe maybe next step you should first elevate the two poles on either sides of the entrance, then the next two on either sides working your way to the back untill all of them are up. Might that make any sence?
@richardbrewin41656 жыл бұрын
Next time just keep one side of legs off , also when yo put frame together drill a 3/16" hole thru each connection , hardware stores sell a toggle that will keep parts together, great job
