Back in the '60s, someone asked a sports-car racing team owner, "Can you make a small fortune racing sports-cars professionally?" He wisely replied, "Only if you start out with a large fortune." As you know, Jay does it because he loves cars and wants to preserve them. He considers himself a trustee of the collection. (Considering he knows, and is friends with, other "Keepers of the Flame," I kinda think he's probably made arrangements to keep it together after his passing---and, please the gods, let that be in the distant future!) Stay safe, everybody.

@@oldenweery7510 I wonder if it's set up to be a working museum when Jay goes to the collection in the sky, I only assume that his long time employees are well taken care and would still carry on the care and upkeep and growth of the collection. I wonder all added up what this collection is worth. I know he was buying a lot of these now super high priced cars like the Bugattis and duecenburgs when they were "cheap" Wonder what the insured Value is.

I think it was Richard Childers that said, if you want to make a millions dollars racing , you just have to invest two million dollars. That was back in the 1990s. Today if you want to make a million dollars racing, you need $25,000,000 just to bribe NASCAR,

+Henrik Carlsen I agree these are great, but I also like the interview videos as well. He's a talker, yeah, and it's his talking ability that made him the money to be able to afford this garage so be glad that he is a talker ...yes, he occasionally interrupts doing the conversations, but who doesn't when you're enthusiastic about a topic? Main thing is he gets along well with the the people that visit his garage and they're always interesting and entertaining.

I had restored a 74 Satellite that I found with pretty low miles from an older couple here in Iowa who only bought it to get home from California because their other cars engine went. So it sat for several years. They hoped it was going to a good home and it was to be my first solo restoration. I restored it with minor mods like custom paint, updated interior, minor performance upgrades and took it back to show them after it was done and they broke down crying. I was proud of that car as it was my first engine rebuild and restoration. I had helped a friend who bought my 67 Falcon with a 289 in it to turn it into a drag car because I knew my way around it. But it was his new baby. Our first restorations are always the ones closest to our hearts. When you can show the previous owners that they made the right decision in selling the car to you. It is even more special. So I totally get where you are coming from Jay when you want to take the previous owners out for a ride.
