Thank you Jay! You may have helped me solve a decades-old mystery with this video. I Caine from a family of automotive lunatics. Even as a young child, there was no car or motorcycle that escaped my notice. I felt I knew about everything, until one day when I was around 11-12yo, I was touring the backyard of an automotive repair lot here in Western MA and saw a gorgeous car sitting on a trailer. It was nothing I had ever seen before or since. I crawled all over it and tried to learn as much as I could. The car had obviously been sitting a long time, but it was in decent condition. I asked the mechanics what it was and they just said...”It’s some Italian job!” As you guessed, that made me more curious. I crawled all over it again and this time popped the hood. It had an in-line six that looked just like the engine in my Dad’s 240Z, with Nissan written on the valve cover. Years went by and that car finally disappeared from the back lot when the garage shut down. If Bizzarrini ever made a car using the Z-Car running gear, than I am certain that car was a Bizzarrini. As I remember, I think the body was aluminum, painted “root beer brown.” If Bizzarrini never used Nissan running gear, than I am back at square one. I am 53 yo now, so when I saw this car was 40 years ago. If anybody out there has any info. Let me know. It’s the one car that escaped me. Would love to know what it was.

It was the Trump administration that recently wanted to force the EPA to approve a higher percentage of ethanol in gasoline... to reward farmers for being a reliable voting bloc for him. I live in a farm state, so I'm 100% aware that except for a very few high-pollution areas where some kind of oxygen-bearing additive is needed during the summer months, ethanol in gas is just a "welfare for farmers" program. I use it because our state's [Republican] government gives it a tax break, so it's usually about 20 cents per gallon cheaper than non-ethanol gas, but I don't have any illusion that it's anything but a subsidy. Still, if you're going to subsidize somebody, farmers are a good choice, because in the event of trade disruptions, it's hard to switch people's metabolisms to "alternative fuels"...

The stance is all wrong. Kinda ruins it for me
@duygukayhanisaskank49153 жыл бұрын
I agree. The stance takes a while to appreciate. It's purposely engineered into the design. It "centers" the weight for road-hugging stability & better handling when cornering. This odd design provides full advantage of the frontal "midengine" placement. The vents on the front fenders are functional. They provide an escape for incoming air. At high speeds, these fender vents will keep the nose from lifting. The rear fender vents provide an exit to keep air from compressing in the wheel wells. There-by, making the rear of the car stable at high speeds. Best regards, Ben

@@172-e5s I agree. The stance takes a while to appreciate. It's purposely engineered into the design...to "center" the weight for road-hugging stability & better handling when cornering. This odd design provides full advantage of the frontal "midengine" placement. In reality, the raised front is an optical illusion...viewing from either side. The use of a "slightly" different size tire on the front would soften the illusion. But I wouldn't advise it. When viewed front-on, it's difficult to discern the very slight lift//rise in the front. The front fenders are high to accommodate the complex suspension, chassis & steering components. Viewed from the side, the fender hump & the "tucked-under" nose gives an illusion of the car angling upward. In reality, the centerline of this car is virtually level from rear to front. Best regards, Ben

Immediate impression: I flashed on the Marcos GT episode from two years ago. The front/mid engine placement is just brilliant (notwithstanding the engine heat in the cabin). Couldn't agree more about the Webers Vs. a four-barrel carb... after all, "It IS how you look". Odd and intriguing car. Another excellent video. Thank you Jay!

This is like "Speed Racer" or a Hot Wheels come to life, and I mean that in only the best of ways!

I saw a red one parked downtown Asheville NC about 4-5 years ago. If it wasn't for an older onlooker next to me, I wouldn't know the name Bizzarrini. Wow Rare!

I wish Jay would adopt me. LOL! A true car guy and automotive historian! Great episode on the iconic Bizzarrini.

I did a full brake bleed and alignment on one of these today, it was a true piece of art. I looked up this video to learn more about this thing.

An extreme rare beauty of Italian sculpture... Sounds like it had a crossed wire however, the audio was screwed up as Jay highlighted early on, that said the car still didn't sound right to me... It adds a whole new meaning to sitting low...GM power with a Ford transmission too boot! No Jay it wasn't a Muncy, LOL! Bill on the Hill... :~)

It’s always classy to match your cars paint to your outfit.

Well, they are both blue. Other than that, you don't picture a italian guy using this type of denim.

Shirt to match the outside, trousers to match the inside. Job done.
