The mostly carbon fiber body and innovative performance features were revolutionary at the time and made this Pratt & Miller Corvette a force to be reckoned with, so Jay bought the very first car!

I feel bad for Jay's production team. Almost everyone prefers the intimate, unpolished and extremely honest feeling of these quarantine edition videos of JLG.

@@dikkeroege yeah but people are becoming nostalgic for the days when KZbin was just that, a way for regular people to be able to post videos they made with whatever they had and the quality of their content came from their creativeness or personal style. Now everyone has pro cameras, lighting and operators plus a team of editors and they are owned by a huge media company or network.

Yeah have to agree, the shots and everything are clearly lower quality but people dont mind, they are here because they want to listen to what Jay he has to say, not many people with experience and knowledge about cars while still being super humble.

Not just the low budget production style, Jay also sounds less scripted. I noticed this show getting more productionized over the years, but this goes way back when Jay produced the show with his own money on his own website. Brilliant!

One of the most profound statements I've ever heard when it came to "collector" cars: Buying a car and not driving it so you can get top dollar on resale, is akin to dating the hottest girl you ever saw and not having sex with her so you can keep her fresh for the next guy. Profound. Classless. Yet, profound

Yes, the same rationale for havingg a bra on your car just 10-20 years ago. Drive an ugly car now so it will be pretty for the next guy. Thankfully now, the Clear Protective Vinyl Shields you can add to the front of the cars is invisible, and protects fully from stone chips on bugs.

The C6 is such a timeless design, still has the iconic round tail lights the side profile is pure Corvette. Also the C6.R that Pratt & Miller ran in LeMans was unbelievably successful, with lots of victories and multiple championships. In fact since the C5.R started racing back in the early 2000s no other manufacturer has won more races and championships than Corvette and they couldn't have done it without Pratt & Miller.

Nice! When I first started my career, I bought a new 2013 mustang GT and it was a nice feeling buying the car I really wanted. Later I sold it and bought my 2007 Ron Fellows autographed Z06 and it’s an absolute blast. It was my first true sports car and it just fits awesome. Nothing like the mustang, not knocking them, but the C6Z is only 3100lbs with 505hp stock. It’s a real thrill and just pulls and pulls. I will also always like the C5 style too. Great cars!! I do love this thing though!

@@Allmotorzl1 See my first response........I almost forgot to mention: Torque is also what pulls heavier loads. You can have an engine that only produces 200 hp ( or even less ) that is designed to produce more torque & pull a much heavier load than a 300 hp engine. It all depends on what type of performance you need, even in racing.

Nice video. Your comment about smog testing caught my ear. Like you, I live in California. I've always had older cars that have to have a sniffer in the exhaust pipe while spinning a drum. I sit there and sweat bullets during the testing. Then, one day I had to take my father's 2003 C5 Corvette (after he passed away) to be smogged. As usual, I was nervous. All they did was a visual on the engine, look for stored codes and any smoke out the exhaust. Inspection complete!! No sniffer, no drum. Smog tests on the C5 are a piece of cake. I'm guessing it was the same situation with your C6 Vette.

Jay' s a real car guy. All those different vehicles and he shows love to all of them. Here he is showing this high spec 'vette in the garage and over his left shoulder is that goofy Citroen. And you know what? He likes driving all of them and can tell you good stories about all of them...

At least you didn't mention the 3 extra microns of width added by all the layers of clear coat required to get that inky black finish. I know you saw it too! Now that would have made you sound a bit obnoxious lol.

Jay Leno. One of the all-time great comedians and television show hosts. One kind and humble gentleman. I would love to meet the man one day. I am so happy to see such a good man achieve, rightfully, and enjoy all of the success he has. He loves his cars and his channel here is a gift to us as he shares his knowledge and experiences with incredible cars that most of us will likely never even see in person, let alone drive or own. Thank you Jay and God Bless you Sir!

@@clubracer6 I love my Ron Fellows 2007 Z06. It still scares me and I respect the power a lot. I came from a modified Mini Cooper where you can get away with anything handling wise lol. These C6’s are such a great bargain too.

@@clubracer6 lol I know. Different types of owners too. The Mini Cooper camp are all Biden supporting open border pride marching liberals and the Z06 owners are juiced up bodybuilding Trump supporters. LOL JK but not that far off. The mini is so fun though, I do miss the car. You have to own one to appreciate all the fun they are. Lots of torque down low. The Z is amazing though and my first sports car. Love it. I think they are holding their value now too which is nice.

@@MrGflan I do love a great light weight car with amazing steering, which is why I race a Miata and have owned many street Miata. My current C6 is my 3rd C6 (one was a race car) 4th vette. I love the Miata and corvette equally for very different reasons. I’ve driven Minis and they are fun but I really can’t stand front wheel drive. Maybe I need to drive one with a limited slip diff.

Jay, I'm glad you're still with us after driving on those tires. I picked up a V-8 swapped RX7 running on old/mismatched tires and it was just like this. I lit them up at part throttle at 80 mph (on the way home) and decided I would not drive it again until I had new tires. Was a very butt-clenching experience.
