As is the case with Jaguar and the E-Type, Aston Martin will never escape the legacy of this car and that is *absolutely* fine. I'm glad to see they're embracing how iconic it is.

When I was 7 years old my dad used to drop me off to school in an E-Type but there was a guy in the class who was the only Roman Catholic in the school and his dad turned up one day in a DB5 in the Bond colour. Being 7 I asked him about the machine guns and ejector seat etc and he played along with it with a dead straight face. When I got home I rushed to my mother and told her that when I grew up I was going to become a Roman Catholic, astonished she asked why? I replied 'because when you are a Roman Catholic you get a DB5 just like James Bond's!

In the mid 1970's I had a friend who did some wheeler dealing in cars including Porsche, Rolls Royce, E types (XKE's in the USA) Jensen Interceptors, Aston Martins and the like. I had the privilege to be able to drive them all. One day I went with him to purchase a used Aston Martin DB5 from a company director of a small firm. He paid £5k for it, nothing like the stratospheric prices of today. I borrowed it to collect my wife from work and as she got into the passenger seat. She said, "I don't like this much, it's a bit old fashioned" I was speechless, I said, "It' an Aston Martin" Some people never appreciate taste. The £5k he paid at the time would buy you a 3 bedroom semi detached house in the West Midlands, U.K.

I love how these manufacturers are reproducing these iconic cars. Like they did with the Daytona and I’m also with jay with driving old cars. Nostalgia, the look the feel of them. In my mind it takes you back to a time when these things were new and to have some if that feeling the new owner purchase one. I think of it as a time machine just taking you back to those days. No I would never own anything like this but any old car does it for me. I’m only 34 but I love history and this takes you there in some ways. At least mentally it does. I hope that the tradition stays in the hands of our youth working on these old cars and having someone that can still do it today and in the future. We have to keep passing down this knowledge to keep these things going. To keep them relevant instead of oh this is broken let’s just throw it out and get a new one mind set from happening entirely.

My second step father who was an airline pilot, had a friend who owned one of those and kept it our house for a while. I drove it once when no one was looking lol. The house was at the bottom of a downhill driveway. One day I was rolling a tire down the hill and it got away from me and ran straight into the fender of the db 5 behind the front tire. FYI, aluminum bends easily!

I had the first-edition Corgi James Bond DB-5, with all the features when I was a little kid. That little car (worth a small fortune now) probably started my lifelong love affair with cars.

When these originally came out they were priced at around £4000, compared to the E-type Jaguar which was around £2000. Glad he mentioned the hours put in to make this car. Jay is a very measured commentator- which is great. I had to laugh when they used the smokescreen ‘now it drives like a British car’. 😅 Don’t think I’ve ever heard a straight six that sounds as good as that. I want one

The specs on the engine are.....👉 The engine was an inline-six unit fed by three carburetors and it produced 286 hp. In 1964, the DB5 Vantage engine was reworked and improved do offer 330 hp. First models were fitted with a 4-speed manual, but they were changed later on with a 5-speed. A 3-speed👍......Thanks Jay👀

Awesome video, love that car!!! Please, Bond Producers, don't make the new movies "woke!". Learn from all the other movie franchises that have been gutted with woke nonsense!!!

Loved this segment! Our only complaint is that they didn’t take it on the highway or showcase the performance.🎧
