I can't help but believe that Madlib and J Dilla were destined to collide. Like two Gods of music uniting to save it. It is as if they were born in the same era purposely to make this album. I still get chills from this album, as if it is historical.

An oasis, a paradise, its bliss A place of true peace, and not shallow ignorance, Rollins spliffs, sinkin in to pure thought Tryna connect the dots in this obscure plot Consciously reflecting on the best thing For me to do as I move through these waves Tides and maelstroms that have led me astray And let these raps be my anchor before I wash away. Like that....

Cool thing going on here with the compression effecting the claps. The bass is probably resampled and double layered for the plucking bits, bumping up the threshold of the whole signal so that clap is undulating louder and lower. One of my fav beats of all time! S/O to Jay Yancey and much love to Madlib, This is a pure example of spreading love and knowledge to the kids Don't always believe negativity is the key, that's what the establishment wants you to see, A vivid picture of US as the enemy, that's what they want me and you to be But the flipside of this, is that real MCs will always and forever spread the message Because the mainstream/cliche rap is dead to us, do not call this ridiculous It's articulate and meticulous

When I open my eyes, I see signs of summertime, birds fly on a canvas of sunny skies. Natural beauty that I capture in my minds eye, Collecting memories, As I watch time glide by. Day and night like a slide show as the beats play It seems strange, these days, seeing scenes change, These Transitional years, brought loss of some peers And invoked tremendous growth, but created new fears So I take a deep breath release stress to keep fresh Nowadays It would seem that I sleep less

@mug04life sorry brother if i offended you, i am just trying to return hip hop to where it was. to do that it takes skills please keep writing and doing your thing, i am just trying to say that stakes is high and hip hop is a true weapon in the fight for freedom and free expression, while hip hop can also be pimped and contorted for repression if respect and responsibility towards the arts is not simply shown but demanded and expected.

actually, this beat was produced by madlib. easiest way to tell who did what beat is by who's rapping on it. if Dilla's rappin, Mad did the beat. if Mad's rappin, then it's a Dilla beat. basically, one would hook up a beat, then sent it to the other to spit on. if all else fails and you're STILL not sure who did what, wikipedia that shit...
