Hi Jay, in addition to what you have stated in the video, I also want to add that actual, automatic, scripted bots aren't the only ones farming the resources, real, living players are too. Some of the "bots" that go on farming resources for several hours a day are just gold-sellers/farmers, gathering resources to sell on the trading post for coin, to sell that coin to other people in exchange for real currency. These people will go on multiple routes for lengthy amounts of time cause they work for gold-selling websites, which is of course despicable. There are also other ways of identifying gold-sellers/bots that you did not list in the video but I thought might be helpful: -Funny-looking names (a lot of their names are funny words, or just a mix of words and numbers, or just a mix of random words and phrases). -Part of companies with funny names (some of the company names will be called something such as "REAL LIVE COMPANY" which is just blatant af). -Not part of a company (Cause they are automatic bots).

I am a farmer, and am fairly turned off by the amount of them that I run into. Again, I play daily for 3 - 5 hours, and run into these constantly. I get your point on detecting software, but what needs to be done here is Server GMs need to be hired and watching these. They just cant seem to be able to afford this, therefor they, like every other company is trying an automated process, and unsurprisingly is falling way short. One more thing: This feeds gold buying. With this many bots, it makes far more sense to go out, spend real money and save yourself 10s of hours of farming, and still get what you want. Some sites have 500k for as low as $100. To alot of people in the US, this is child's play $ they will spend in 5 seconds. How much orichalcum Ore can you buy with 500k? 200k? 50k? And as you mentioned EF/WW companies are like "I dont see the problem here". The real problem is no one cares to farm, because their culture now is to just buy, which robs so much of the game.

I think they are a problem personally. It can be pretty annoying as a player starting out trying to get like your harvesting level up for example when there's bots all over windsward (go check near the fort there's always a bunch running the same path) and I mean these bots are pretty likely the same accounts selling gold in the game also. Valorant is pretty much the only game that has protections in place to prevent something like this from happening and what I mean is they have protections in place if software tries to take control of your mouse in game then your mouse just stops working entirely and new world would need an anticheat measure implemented similar to this to stop the bots. And I mean it's still possible to cheat at val if you know what you are doing but it would take the people selling the cheats to have to offer more support to those that are purchasing them. It wouldn't be as simple as it is now where a bot is developed using python and then once it works they can sell it for $30-$40 a month and as long as the user has their resolution set to 1080p and certain keybinds then it works as intended. It would take much more manual set up and I think we would see that number go from 5% to less than 1%. This same anticheat would ruin the ai-assisted aimbot people are using in opr also and pretty much the only way you'd be able to cheat really is with an undetected cheat engine which is pretty difficult to set up. You're never gonna get rid of the cheaters/bots but you can slow them down.

There are bot hotspots where you can get very little resource as there're like 10 every time. On Tartarus for example, just a few meters west of Everfall (Alioth) there are 8 bots running around. A bit south Chason Steep, there're 5 bots running as of writing this. And this is since 3 days and zero of them get banned. I wonder how long they already are farming there since they are all level 60 and I only farm there since 3 days. There used to very little bots once the server was locked for character creation. I don't agree with the last major point of false banning. Other MMORPG solved this issue. Also the current bots are very basic scripts, every kid can do with a program recording. They always walk the same path and not even those are banned. There are some more advanced scripts, that even detect if a node is already mined, but they still always walk to the resource and try to mine (wihtout the animation anymore, they solved that ). Some are now good enough to avoid sort of the already mined resource and skip the next few meters and walk to the next one. They are harder to spot, but they have the same movement every time and if you follow them, they're easily spottable.

I have seen a few people on the forums talk about turning Nodes from Server based to instanced based instead, meaning everyone could farm the same node and not loose out on materials to bots but some people did say that it could upset the balance of competing against other players for nodes and that it would cause market upset. For me i don't care about being out farmed by actual players but going against Bots who are scripted 24/7 does get annoying. However there are a lot of MMO's out there where nodes are instance based and the market is still booming, yes it might lower prices on the market for iron, silver, gold etc but you will still get people that will still want to buy the materials due to their own personal time constraints ie Work, Family life etc and might only get an hour or so a night to play and these people going up against bots are just waiting time trying to gather and not getting much as if nodes where instanced based they could go out, farm materials and be more productive in other areas like crafting. Even though the number of bots might seem small in the area you are in gathering you don't know exactly how many bots are spread across the map at any given time but something does need to be done about this or people will just give up on the game as its a waste of someone's time.

@kryptikdistortion2 жыл бұрын
@@jayoddity Yes that is true the items would loose some value on the market but it won't be completely ruined, some MMO's already have this mechanic and their in-game economy is still really good. Bots would still be out and about getting these resources but won't be making half as much gold from the minable ores and will allow everyone to be able to farm the materials with it being instanced based. It can be a deterrent this way because if a bot is running a script 24/7 and market values are lower for iron ore etc is it really worth the time/power consumption to continue botting if they are not making enough gold on raw ores? They would have to find another method of making gold which would mean to make gold they would have to go into higher tier areas. or craft iron ore into ingots etc to make any money. But im not a game developer so i don't know the In's and Out's of it all but it does seem like a reasonable fix to the botting issue.

One only a small portion of players can gather, given timer respawns, how is this considered competition? Even with phased gathering nodes, there are still spawn timers, everything in the game does not need to be a competition, as I said some people just want to be self sufficient. The term "carebear", meaning not wanting to be competitive. I shouldn't be forced to engage with auction house trading, if I can do it myself.

Resource bots head to map coordinates- have dynamic resources spawning (random locations) give players a reason to look all over. Here is the thing with bots...they are not run by players looking to farm in-game gold. They are run by people who probably don't even play New World to ultimately make real world currency (by selling the in-game gold for $). Therefore, the botting problem is an indication and a symptom of gold buying/selling. It is really a problem we create ourselves. And as you mentioned, it is easy to walk through the world and be 100% confident "that player is a bot", but when your job hangs in the balance of not being wrong in those assessments, suddenly you need a little something called justification and evidence (even proof). And because of the economics of the game/industry (no subscription fee, minimal RMT, etc.) the only way to do this is either through automation (easier to fool because AI is trying to detect AI, and they continue to evolve to counter each other) or by using a minimum wage worker in the Philippines who speaks English as their second language. Easy enough for players to say "I can tell who is a bot", I don't get why they can't fix it. Sure, but are you willing to do that 8 hours a day for just over $1/hour? Didn't think so. TLDR: Stop buying gold (which funds the people who create bots). The cost of hiring people cable of detecting bots manually is order of magnitudes too high to even be considered.

I remember launch day times. Bots spamming chat selling gold. How many times do you see that nowadays? Never, so bots are clearly not being used to generste cash.
