Pat, Janet, and Mel should organize and lead tours on trikes. People can fly in for a tour of Portland while riding a trike. It is doable after COVID. They both know their way around and where the hot spots are. A large van can transport groups of 6 to different spots where they will unload and ride a stretch.

When you search for good interview candidates, don't forget about retirement communities! They are full of super interesting individuals. A trike would serve as two things. 1) a conversation magnet to promote trikes and 2) a venue to discover promising interview candidates. True synergy.

Janet was good at being objective instead of being subjective about the Catrike Mel initially dismissed. He was admirably humble about his mistake.

Love the out-takes, at lease you included Portlands abunded homeless. After talking to a unscientific sample of the local homeless at a church that operated a soup kitchen of about 30 individules who I chatted with about 70% completed university with no jobs since 2008. There were lawyers, nurses who never worked because they have anglo heritage. One was a doctor who had been hurt in a car/bike accident and was hooked on oxy. There were a number of school teachers who never worked. Some homeless had a PHD level university education. 3 or 4 spoke french but got addicted to the wrong drugs. The remainder were english speaking unfortinately with french heritage, we are seen as traitors. I too have university and a college diploma but can't get work in my field unless I can pass a fench language written test. I am working and far luckyer but I so easily have been amoung their ranks! As for Ford, though credited for it, they actually adapted the assembly line as it had existed in the food industry prior to his evolution of the process into creating soft and hard goods. His assembly line was the longest and most elaborate ever dreamed up, and he was very proud of it! It cut the cost of production by 75% over other manifacturing. And it sped his production. The previous line operations were meat processing (reverse processing) where an animal was slottered then parts were removed along a line until complete. In biscuit and bread plants people worked at stations combining raw goods, then a worker mixed those groups of raw or cooked goods into forms like doughnuts and into an oven, the cooked proceeded to get glazes and toppings, and packaging. The prime important characteristics was that the worker did not follow the product, the product moved on to the next worker and process.

I've really been enjoying your trips around Portland because I recognize locations. And I learn about bike trails that I've never ridden. I imagine you're not in Portland anymore, but just in case, I'll keep an eye out for you trikers when I'm driving a school bus all over town :)

I'm Jealous. Awaiting a call from Mel and Janet to say my 559 has arrived at Recumbent PDX. When Ya want a special color, one must wait. Praying it arrives the next week or so as spring is coming. Then the long drive down from tri cities to get it set up to ride. Can't wait.

Smart marketing outreach to seniors and middle aged people is the key to more sales. Once people have the chance to ride a recumbent trike, they are hooked. The key is getting them to take that trial ride. How to do that is the other key.
@rossbrumby19572 жыл бұрын
Hope the trikes frames weren't bent after that prang! Pretty basic though, a wheel alignment will fix anything thats not obviously bent.

Mel is right. Portland is an ideal city for triking. Yes. It rains, but there are plenty of good days to trike. And you don't overheat like at other places. Overcast is preferable.

Mel let me ride a Cattrike 700 with glass bearings etc fully tricked out. I went up the hill and around the mountain and back again. It was fast as blank and what a fun ride. Up to that point I thought I was going to buy one but I finished the ride with cramps and my back was a bit tight. I decided it would not be what I want to ride for ultra rides that I like to do. So I went with the HPVelotechnic FS 26 and love it with no regrets. Will always remember that speedy 700 though.

I hate recumbents. You’re practically laying on the ground and expect people to see you ? Even the flag helps little with visibility. And on paved trails they’re rolling obstructions.
