I’m glad you enjoy the videos! There are a lot of different step by step tuts on the channel.. I really need to clean the channel up and make it easier to find the different projects

Wonderful work -- and you clearly studied anatomy as well as the physics of sculpture. My question is whether you use any sealer as well as your structure? Thanks for this fascinating video.

Thanks, great info. I’ll be changing over to fiberglass.

Great tutorial. You are right. I found that you definitely need a good base underneath the sculpture. Your sculptures are beautiful!

Thank you. Yes a good base is the key

The best structure I know of is the wire left by electricians when they peel it from the copper cables. Take 2 length twist them together and make your shape with it.
@JamesShelnutt6 жыл бұрын
seems like you could spray it with something, like lacquer with a clear coating, to repel the water to begin with

I’m sure it would be worth a try

Thank you for making this video! I'm making full paper mache pumpkins and I've been wondering. I'll probably just take them in if there's a good rain.

thanks. Great video. My wife and I built 4.5 ft aliens with paper & masking tape as armiture. waterproofing was solid but the wind and weight took its toll. I wish we saw it earlier but I had fun and learned a lot.

Three days of rain...you're lucky!!! I live in the U.K! I'll see how long it holds up in the rain over here! Thanks anyway. I love your spooky garden! X

I wonder when u use the cardboard to build the the core up if u seal it really good before u add the mache on top if that would it make it more weather proof ?
@UnhingedProductions18 жыл бұрын
Not sure

Yep, my pumpkins sagged badly after a few solid days of rain. Took them in, propped them up, and they dried out to nearly the same as before. Wish I'd seen this video before I stuck them out in the rain!

LOL.. At least they are all good once again

Melt wax on it that would be a water proffer?
@caroladeschamps92057 жыл бұрын
can this still happening with mache clay added? does the pumpkins still sag if they are paper mache and then mache clay? what about the others? Switzerland not only gets lots of rain we have windy storms with it so if it saggy it might not last here
@UnhingedProductions17 жыл бұрын
Yes it will still happen with the mache clay added... All my pumpkins are completely covered with mache clay, even the old ones sitting out there in this video. They will wick water into them if they are in a lot of rain

Just keep an eye on your stuff it should last.. A lot of the things in this video have been in the yard for October more than five years... Where i'm at we get a lot of rain and a lot of wind in October and i mean a lot of wind..

gorgeous groundbreakers! I've watched the tutorials and can't wait to make my own. Have you considered making them using John Allen's (Stiltbeast) method of plastic sheet corpsing?
@UnhingedProductions18 жыл бұрын
I have done plastic corpsing before. It is a good fast and easy way to do it, but I like to try and stick with paper mache for most projects
@Sandcem8 жыл бұрын
Good advice. I wonder as well, using some silicone with the paste, would that help?
@UnhingedProductions18 жыл бұрын
It will help with sealing it from the water, but even with that around here the temp goes from hot to cold a lot during October and with the moisture in the air some of my props still seam to build condensation on the inside which still makes them a little week at times
@Sandcem8 жыл бұрын
understood. I'm in Ohio so the weather is always up and down. thanks man.

PVC frame and cover your art with heavy duty trash bag if it going to rain. Face the facts all these yard art objects have a lot of time in them . Protect your art in the weather cover it or move it. Myself to much to move but a box of Heavy grade trash bags $15 for 32 . Keep the trash bag fairly tight you don't want to make a sail to catch the wind. Some objects will be easier to cover than other but 90% covered is better than 100% in the rain.Great channel alway great stuff and awesome ideas. Love your latest ground breaker.

@Kevinegan17 жыл бұрын
I have made some really wicked ghoul hands for a Halloween project. They have a wire frame covered with masking tape and then paper mache over that which has all the details. I want something I can spray on or dip into that will really harden up like plaster or hard plastic. I have thought about giving each several coats of that flex seal stuff that sissy on TV is always harping about. I'm sure that would toughen up the paper mache some but I still don't think it will be hard, durable enough to stand up to the weather, being moved around and time in the attic until next Halloween. I've even thought about just soaking the sh*t out of them in latex paint until they can't soak up any more. My concern there is the paper mache falling apart before the paint dries. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks & Happy Halloween

Soesnt work on paper mache where i live...he is right..if it doesnt have a structure it melts...or thats been my 40 year experience. I use an import of a.substance that is a plastic like concrete now...ones been outside for 10 years..expensive as hell...so i only have 2 pieces made of it. I am having a senior moment and cant remember the name of it. I switched to using cement on a few...dont have them anymore as i gave most my stuff away.

Get to point re waterproof please. Came by you via google... Stopped watching 0:58 in, kept watching till 4:02, still no answer so canned... Too much waffle, get to the point. As I know how to make paper mache. Can this be done at home without having to buy more crap from Walmart or Amazon? From simple household commodities.
@UnhingedProductions14 жыл бұрын
Well I’m sorry this video didn’t work for your taste. So I’ll get right to the point. No you can’t water proof your stuff with house hold items. I’d link you to another video that talks about that stuff, but I’m sure you would just stop watching in 58 seconds, so later

@@UnhingedProductions1 thanks and I've made a plan - in lock down with covid-19, stores shut and seeking to just use up crap without going out, not that we should as routine or wasting money...
