Oh man poor 2230F. That’s why I only use wooden dens. People hate cougars but at least with them you have a chance of saving your pup if caught. Plus now with saga available they’re easier to fend off with more pack members at the den.

A trick I use with eagles are, just woof NONSTOP it’s way more effective than picking up a pup and staying with another, or just hope ing for the best

Best thing to do when that happens with an eagle attack, is to hold one like you where, and stand still right by the other. I see the method you were doing but because of the running in circles you still gave way too much room between you and 30F. Stand right by the pup if it is staying still and follow it as close as you can if it is moving, thats the best way I have learned.

So, you likely already know this but hitting the ‘T’ button allows you to go first person mode and in that mode you can look up at the eagles which is how you chase them off, but I wanted to share this in case anyone didn’t know this. But aside from that I am sorry for the loss of Aden’s pup. Hopefully things start going better later on in this year and no other pups lose their lives.

I wouldn't run circles because that gives the eagles a chance to strike just stand next to the pup the eagle can't attack. (According to my experience. It might not work for everyone though)

I haaaate eagles. I can deal with most den attacks pretty well by now but eagles are the one type that manages to snatch pups most often - which is why I avoid open dens, I rather fight a cougar

2229F seems to have such an affinity for eagles and prefers to stay outside when they attack... I'm wondering if you should name her something to do with a bird of prey if she survives long enough for the first hunt! Perhaps she prefers an raptor/eagle themed name to honour her poor sister :( That was such an unfair death, I hate it. YOU WERE RIGHT THERE. I hate cougars but I've gotten very good at memorising the stumps and trees around my dens so I can spot cougars before they pounce... They're much easier to handle than eagles which tend to just give me grey hairs every time they show up! I just want to be able to pluck eagles from the sky like in Shelter 2 and SHAKE EM LIKE THEY OWE ME MONEY!!!!!!!! 🤬

I kinda agree there should be something we can do about eagles… In the old WC they would land and flap on the ground temporarily then you had a chance to beat them off but this is straight up ‘no strategy

We can click T to keep a close eye on the eagle and follow it from below. If you woof repeatedly and follow the pups, they are more likely to go inside as well. There is definitely strategy when it comes to eagles, I have chased an eagle away many times by running at it when it swoops down close due to the fact I was following it around.

Stand right over any pup still outside (assuming you're already holding another one in your mouth) and the eagle typically won't have room to swoop down. Running around the pup still gives too much space to the eagle. This won't help if there are more than two pups out, but it's better than nothing...

Eagles doo seem brazen i was overlapped with my pup's model right next to the side of the rock den as she stared straight up not listening and the eagle swooped between me and the den wings clipping through my wolf and the den and grabbed said pup

Honestly, with the eagle, it seems you were way to far. Running around them doesn't really do much. usually I just stand directly on top of them as they walk to the den and I've never had a eagle attack when I did that

I really wish there was a better way ta deal with the eagles other than just sending the pups into the den or holding them. They just seem so overpowered compared ta the other predator gameplay wise, especially when they'll snatch pups that are directly besides the player or pack member as seen in the video. Even those that typically "insta-kill" a pup have counters or give us the ability ta combat them. But we don’t have that with the eagles, unless ya count simply not choosing the dens they would hunt at. However, that really limits gameplay with how awesome some of them are (Lost River's wagon den for example). I mean, ya could press T and run underneath them but that doesn’t always help. Perhaps there could be a brief pause in the future for them, like they have ta gain their bearings before taking off because of the pup's weight - giving the player a chance ta drag them off or perhaps spook them into letting the pup go? Right now they just seem much too brazen in my opinion.

Literally all you have to do is follow the game instructions. Press T and stalk the eagle. When you see it preparing to dive down, sprint to where it's heading. 9/10 times it saves your pups. The only time I can see this not working is if you run into a rock or something while looking up at the sky.

​​@@yawnne7088I know, I've used that each time I choose an open den - including with my first ever litter - and I honestly don't think it's that effective. Especially when the pups scatter like they did here. It's quite annoying ta be in that mode in the first place and I typically find myself getting a bit disoriented whenever I use it ta look up. And, even if ya stay under it, I've still had then go for pups right next ta me. Again, they just seem too brazen at the moment and I wish there was another method other than changing your whole game's perspective (outside of scent view of course).

@twlightnightfall1315 In that case, it seems like user error and not any problem with the actual eagle mechanics in game. If you follow the game directions in order to thwart the eagles, your pups will rarely die and that is a fact. Them scattering doesn't matter when you're chasing the eagle as it flies in the air. Also I like to woof as I chase the eagle using my hot key.

My 2nd year pups i had a pup named jounery who got sick. So i turned off sick pups can die because i made the mistake of picking a Kk mate for a Kk wolf. So all of them got sick the third day... And journey passed from sickness. Even though i made a change of setting to where that shouldn't happen. I couldve revived her by loading a save but. I consider that cheating.. so i just didn't bother . Rip journey..

The setting only applies before you have any pups. If you already have pups, it will kick in for the next litter, not your current one
