I do not consider her as underrated singer. She's one of my favorite singer. During those days, the press were hostile to her because she did not indulge in 'gimmicks" where most aspiring artist do. She's a real artist.

Really!? The press were hostile to Laura? Sorry I was born in 88 but adore all her songs and i have all her albums (except hold me) and I'm really interested to know more about her life could u please explain what u meant thanks
@lamplighter19686 жыл бұрын
I think what Sandy meant was that Laura didn't get nearly the exposure and promotion she deserved. MTV was huge in those days and they embraced the excessively flamboyant Madonna much more than Laura. Laura was all about the talent, and the connection she made with us through her music, and unfortunately, it's the fluff and gimmickry that often gets the most attention. Not that Laura didn't have a spectacular career, and amazing success, but if the industry of show business were more just, she would have had far more.
@Finnochka5 жыл бұрын
@@lamplighter1968 Actually, to be fair, Madonna indeed had huge hits during the 80's-90's. She acted in a very provocative way, thats true, but we cannot say she wasnt talented. But one should not come at the expense of another. Both artists like Madonna and artists like Laura should have been presented on MTV, so people could enjoy all styles of music and perfomance - sexy and flamboyant, and humble and emotional. Unfortunatelly, it didnt happen... A lot of great artists were left behind and didnt get promotion they deserved... ((

I'd never heard this rendition before. Thank you for posting it. Laura had such a wonderful voice. She conveyed her emotion through it. She would do this thing when she sang where her voice would crack. I always loved that and I have always tried to mimic it, not nearly as well, when I sing, and I never realized it until just now. She had an impact on me when I was becoming aware of music in my youth. Love and gratitude

It’s interesting if you go through KZbin a bit, there’s a few videos of performances he did betweeen that period where he’d left LRB and whispering jack where you could swear even though he knew he was recording an album he had no idea where it would take him. All the performances from 1986 of his before WJ are covers and he has this weird shoulder pad thing going on with the bigger than normal permed hair…. Although check out his ‘wind beneath my wings’ performance from the NSWRL grand final in September 1986, you start to possibly see ‘jack’ coming out finally, however the audience appeared bored 😐
