@stevehary51835 ай бұрын
She had an incredibly powerful voice, like that of Celine Dion or Maria Carey. Unfortunately at that time, producers were looking more for groups than for single singers. Which explains these difficult beginnings. But everything changed after meeting her husband, thanks to him and his support she managed to get a contract with “Altantic Record”. Afterwards, his talent did the rest. The last few years have been very difficult for her, she has never really gotten over the death of her husband. He was his protector, as long as he was there everything went well. I think that towards the end of her life she was quite alone to take care of her affairs and herself. After a serious accident falling from a ladder, she got back on stage thanks to a lot of courage and work. At the end of the video, we see her at home with her mother on the living room sofa. This allows us to see the real Laura Branigan: a simple, shy girl who is very close to her mother. Her mother's illness (form of Alzheimer's) was surely one battle too many for a woman whose health has been weakened by various life accidents. What I find unfair is that a few years after his disappearance all his personal belongings were sold at auction (letters, photos, furniture, clothes, diary, etc.). It's sad because she had to hold on to it, she probably wouldn't have wanted all of this to be made public, it was her secret garden. She is now in paradise, surrounded by her husband and her mother around a good meal that she prepared. RIP Laura, Forever young.

Actually, I have an unedited copy of Self Control video which aired on MTV . If you recall the video was banned and edited later...several clips were removed from the Self Control vid that we see now...

@Laura Brannigan Forever - Matty Good Luck 🍀 with Your Future so many have such sad stories that are not heard Sorry for the Loss of your Husband Myself I lost out on The wife of my youth and a 48 year old daughter I’m never going to be allowed to know. I had one chance to prove to my parents and older brother and his wife that a Lanedra Carroll was a real person Christmas 1973 and a girl named Lori Speck told my mother on the phone she didn’t know what I was talking about and hung up the phone and on Jewel Kilcher second CD 💿 called Spirit Lori Speck is refered to in the credits as Laura Gold I’m the Stranger from the East in Jewel’s Song “Enter from the East” I refer to myself as “the Has been that Never Was” or a “Recycled Hippie” I beat cancer in 1990, had 8 tumors on my esophagus late stages Hodgkins Lymphoma got radiation treatments 5 Days a week for 13 weeks and high doses of prednisone ate my bone away had both shoulders replaced and bone grafts on both hips 1993-96-98-&99 on all for corners then in 2016 had open heart surgery aortic valve replaced one bypass and a pacemaker put in. But back to Jewel Kilcher my family had me put in Drs care because of one lie and I became Dr Phil McGraw’s first patient when he was an intern he had my family Dr John Marino prescribed lithium for me in January 1974 because of that lie Lori Speck made and when I heard the whisper the girl in Alaska had a daughter and named her Jewel I was sent back to Dr Phil and I was given Lithium and Electric ⚡️ Shock Treatments to make me loose my memory and I ended up in the Special Olympics August 25,1974 only proof I have are 2 Gold and One Silver Special Olympics Medals 🥇 from then Long story short if I would have gone to Niagara Dragstrip Labor Day Weekend 1973 like I was suppose to Jewel Kilcher would have never been Born and the day Niagara Dragstrip went out of Business I was in the Special Olympics in back sports field at University of Buffalo NY I’m 67 Years Old Now and I live alone in my parents house they left me after they passed away mom in 1992 past 5 days after my birthday at age of 67. Dad passed in January 2014 age 91 of Congested heart failure. I’ve met someone on Twitter in May of 2022 she says she is a celebrity singer but I haven’t met her yet She told me she divorced her second husband September 26,2022 and wants to marry Me Everyone says I’m being scammed and in my attempts to help her financially before said divorce I’m now in financial ruin she said she is coming to my house soon 🔜 I have to wait a few weeks to find out if she is real Or will I die of heartbreak 💔 soon Oh well that’s my life story and I’m sticking to the Truth 😂

Gloria is a very ancient/classic song that i listened in an italian radio, its obvious the song existed much before Laura Branigan came up with her version

Great voice. Great songs. Such an untimely loss. She'll always be missed as one of the great singers of the 80's. Love "Gloria" and "Self control".
