About sports teams not limiting owner spending, I think the average fan cares about ticket prices if you want to go and watch the game in person. Now I know there isn't a direct correlation (but there definitely is some kind of correlation), but imagine NHL instead of $85 million was $200 million. You don't think that would affect ticket prices? Living here in Calgary lower bowl seats are already $300-350 a pop. Now lets double that or triple that for a run away capitalist payroll, or you talk about a family of 4 or 5. How much is that costing now? I personally go to 3-4 games per year, but tickets already cost much much more than they used to. Soon you will see corporate owned seats and 1%s at games only and the stadium will be 1/3 capacity. Supply and demand though I guess, as long as someone will keep paying they will keep raising the price, capitalism 101.
