I used prefolds for postpartum bleeding. It was so much softer than a pad and you could put an ice pack between it as well.

Oh this would be a great idea! I have been trying cloth pads and they have a pul liner in it topped with zorb and flannel. Seriously so comfy and breath better. I want to make some like this now!

A note on using small/infant sized prefolds on newborns, they do look bulky. However, because of the fact that you fold them down to get them to the right size, if you fold them in the back instead of folding them in the front when you're folding, you stop poops from flying up the back. So while newborn prefolds fit better, the added protection against day 4 newborn poop catastrophes is worth the bulkiness to me. By the way I love the video! I'm expecting baby number 5 and this will be the 4th baby I've cloth diapered, all of your videos are amazing and on point.

I planned to skip newborn diapers and use disposables the first 3 months because of sleep deprivation and I also exclusively pump. I'm glad I did because my baby spent almost a month in the NICU (the first few days he had a catheter). And once we brought him home we used the disposables we got from the baby shower. So, I'm glad I didn't prepare a newborn stage stash. But I've started building a small stash with prefolds. 🙂

Thank you April ❤️ Truthfully I don't think there is one system that is the best. I love all the diapering systems. The only diapers I don't use in my one size stash are fitteds and hybrid fitteds. I like AIOs, pockets, and covers. I use prefolds and flats in my pockets and covers though. AIOS: smart bottoms, simplex, Thirsties natural AIO, Diaper Junction heavy wetter POCKETS: alva, lalabye baby, Bumgenius (I do not ever use microfiber inserts). I use hemp prefolds, bamboo prefolds, hemp flats, stretchy bamboo flats, hemp inserts, and bamboo inserts. COVERS: Nicki's and Buttons. I use all the inserts mentioned above^ My girls also pee a decent amount which is why i mainly use hemp and bamboo. I couldn't choose just one system. I really like all the systems for different reasons. I'm an odd ball when it comes to having a favorite diapering system lol. They all serve a purpose in my stash!

I like snaples fitteds with snap in inserts because they dry faster. For cheap flats I love flannel blankets but I love my geffen flats too. I use to not like folding flats but I got faster at it and I don't mind but it's still good to have other options for lazy days. I love the idea of of prefolds because there is less folding than flats but I just never bought any.

What snapless fitteds do you use that has a snap in insert? I'm going to buy a sbish snapless mini this time around to try. I don't dabble much into one size fitteds but I'm definitely interested if there's another brand of newborn snapless fitteds with snap in inserts! I'm all for a faster dry time. I'm starting to love flats more and more. I'm thinking I'm going to love stretchy flats on a newborn. I bought a few for my girls and they're amazing! I could have a whole stash of them. I talked about it in this video but I ended up cutting it out to cut down on time... this was originally an hour long LOL. I do prefer prefolds on my lazy days though lol. Nothing beats a lazy prefold trifold 😂

Jay's Nest well they are actually one size fitteds (forgot this was about newborn diapers). They are just alva fitteds but I took out the insert and added snaps in the back. I only left the rise snaps in the front because it was just toooooooooooo many snaps. I machine dry everything but after 2 cycle i didn't feel like they were completely dry before I changed them up. I know that's too much work for alot of people. If I have another baby I'm getting prefolds and stretchy flats for sure.

Jay's Nest tots bots has a size small fitted that could work for a newborn. I'm thinking about getting a bigger one because they look so soft.

I wasn't crazy about the tots bots newborn cover with my youngest because of how huge it was. I've heard good things about their bamboozled fitted though. it's probably something that would fit longer than the average newborn size with the rise snaps. It might be something I'll invest in.

My grew up with my family using my old diapers as cleaning rags. They lasted well into my twenties. I'm wondering how long Green Mountain has been around, because they looked *exactly* like their prefolds.

I accidentally bought some newborn pocket diapers instead of newborn covers by mistake. 🤦🏽‍♀️ They didn’t come with inserts either. What can I stuff them with that won’t be too bulky for a NB diaper

What brand is it? Alva Pockets are Sooo small and like nothing fits in it lol. My Geffen newborn hemp inserts fit in it. Kawaii newborn pockets are actually pretty decent. I used newborn prefold and Geffen newborn inserts. I think 20x20 flats would work well with most newborn pockets. I had a few bamboo newborn prefolds that had a lot of shrinkage and made great inserts for newborn pockets. Nicki’s bamboo XS prefold and imagine XS bamboo prefold.

I would suggest picking up some "flour sack" towels to stuff the pocket diapers. At less than a dollar apiece, you can even cut some in half without guilt, if a full towel is too bulky at first. I saw someone here on KZbin who cut them into halves and quarters to diaper a tiny newborn. He hadn't even hemmed them and they were not very frayed. Can't remember who did that, but it is a great idea.

i got like 2 weeks worth of size newborn wear. Turns out I have big babies(11 lbs) and it doesn't run in the family. So all our newborn size clothes and diapers basically can't be used.

Where do you find just the covers? I've looked on Amazon and they have like one cover and the rest are pocket dipers and I just need the covers!

I like to go to cloth diaper retailers. Nickis diapers has free shipping if you spend $10 or more. They’ll be doing Black Friday sales soon! It’s definitely worth waiting for. For tiny babies I like the thirsties newborn/preemie cover. Works really well on itty bitty babies. I also liked the rumparooz newborn. The thing with rumparooz is that it’s baggy and wide in the crotch. The elastics are a bit tight, but it can fit tiny babies too. Usually for Black Friday thirsties goes 15% off! It got small enough and was decently absorbent. I also liked the imagine newborn bamboo Prefold. It’s bigger and thicker but we liked it once my daughter got bigger.

No, I wouldn’t. I always use a cover. The cover is the waterproof part. Without it your baby might pee through their clothes, on you, on the bed lol. In some situations people let their baby air dry their bottom, so they don’t use a cover for a diaper change. This might be good if your baby had a rash and you’re just trying to let their bottom breathe. But we always use a cover so we don’t have to worry about pee getting everywhere.

I mainly do the pad fold. Sometimes I do the origami fold. I don't do the pickman much anymore but I also like that. I don't do other folds. Lol I have a video in the Flats & Handwashing playlist of these 3 folds. My computer is broken which is why I haven't uploaded 😢 Idk when I'll be back to uoloading again. It could be days or months before I'm uploading regularly again. We just don't have the money for a new computer. Jess Is Blessed has an hour long video about a crap ton of flat folds! There are ones I've never tried or heard of in that video. I'm just not an expert on flat folds lol. I'm SUPER picky about flat folds. I'm open to learning more but I like the origami, pickman, and pad fold the best.

I much prefer their flats and prefolds over their fitteds. I liked the snapless fitteds on and off but I really enjoy their prefolds and flats the most. I personally like the idea of just building a stash of the sizes and styles that I want. But also, I’ve never tried the newborn kit so I can’t give a specific critique on the pros/cons of it. Overall, I like GMD’s newborn inserts, size 0 covers, muslin flats, and newborn & small prefolds.

I know this one. (Like in school). A flat is any one-layer piece of cloth that you use for a diaper, whether it's cut out of a T-shirt or bought at a store. In Great Britain, I have heard, flats are frequently made out of terry cloth, and nappies are what what many English-speaking countries call diapers. So a terry towel nappy is a kind of flat. Hope this answers your question.

@@RandomVibes505 I really like little lamb, basic but do a great job. Terrys are still a flat but feel like a towel, they are usually a little smaller as they are a bit more absorbent.
